Job Summary:
We are seeking a Technical Assistant / System Assistant & Maintenance for the Civil Engineering Department to support laboratory operations, equipment maintenance, and departmental technical activities. The candidate will assist faculty members in conducting practical sessions, maintain laboratory systems and equipment, and ensure smooth functioning of departmental infrastructure and maintenance activities. The role requires basic technical knowledge in civil engineering laboratory equipment, maintenance procedures, and system support activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist faculty members in conducting practical classes and laboratory sessions for Civil Engineering students.
- Prepare laboratory equipment, tools, instruments, and materials before practical sessions.
- Support students during laboratory activities, practical demonstrations, project work, and practical examinations.
- Ensure proper maintenance, calibration, testing, and servicing of laboratory equipment, systems, and departmental facilities.
- Monitor the functioning of laboratory instruments, computers, printers, and other related systems.
- Identify equipment faults and coordinate repairs and preventive maintenance activities.
- Maintain records of laboratory inventory, consumables, equipment usage, and maintenance schedules.
- Ensure cleanliness, organization, and safety within laboratories and departmental facilities.
- Assist in organizing workshops and other departmental technical activities.
- Coordinate with faculty members and department staff for the smooth functioning of laboratory and maintenance activities.
Desired Candidate Qualification
- ITI / Diploma in relevant discipline from a recognized institution.
- 2–5 years of experience in laboratory assistance, maintenance, or technical support activities.
- Basic knowledge of civil engineering laboratory equipment and maintenance procedures.
- Ability to handle laboratory tools, instruments, and systems effectively.
- Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, and general maintenance activities is preferable.
- Good knowledge of safety procedures and equipment handling practices.
- Basic computer knowledge and documentation skills.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to assist students and faculty members during practical and technical activities.
- Experience in educational institutions/polytechnic/engineering colleges is preferred.
