Job Description – Retail Pharmacist
Job Summary
The Retail Pharmacist is responsible for dispensing medications accurately, ensuring compliance with pharmacy regulations, maintaining inventory, and providing quality pharmaceutical care and counseling to customers and patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Review prescriptions for accuracy, completeness, and legality before dispensing.
- Dispense prescribed medicines and over-the-counter products accurately.
- Provide medication counseling regarding dosage, administration, side effects, and storage.
- Ensure compliance with pharmacy regulations, hospital policies, and statutory requirements.
- Monitor and maintain adequate stock levels of medicines and pharmacy supplies.
- Verify batch numbers, expiry dates, and storage conditions of medicines.
- Process billing and maintain pharmacy records as per regulatory requirements.
- Handle narcotic and controlled drugs according to applicable regulations.
- Coordinate with doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals regarding medication-related queries.
- Ensure proper storage of medicines, including temperature-sensitive products.
- Assist in inventory audits, stock verification, and reconciliation activities.
- Address customer concerns and provide excellent patient service.
- Report medication errors, adverse drug reactions, and quality issues to the appropriate authority.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy premises.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm).
- Valid Pharmacist Registration Certificate from the State Pharmacy Council.
- Registered Pharmacist license is mandatory.
Experience
- 0–5 years of experience in retail pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, or community pharmacy.
- Freshers with valid registration may also be considered.
Skills Required
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical products and drug interactions.
- Strong understanding of pharmacy regulations and compliance requirements.
- Good communication and patient counseling skills.
- Basic computer and billing software knowledge.
- Inventory management and stock control skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in dispensing medications.
- Ability to work in rotational shifts.

Working Hours: As per organizational policy and shift requirements.
Employment Type: Full-Time.
Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
