Job Title: Chief Operating Officer (COO) – Social Justice & Empowerment
Location: Mulund, Mumbai Employment Type: Full-Time Salary: Up to ₹1,50,000 per month (Based on experience) Experience Required: 12–15+ years in NGO/Development Sector, Social Justice, Community Development, or related fields
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, visionary, and impact-driven Chief Operating Officer (COO) – Social Justice & Empowerment to lead and strengthen our programs focused on social justice, inclusion, community empowerment, disability inclusion, women empowerment, education, livelihood, and sustainable development.
The COO will oversee day-to-day operations, drive strategic growth, manage cross-functional teams, build partnerships, and lead fundraising initiatives to ensure the long-term sustainability and impact of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute organizational strategies aligned with the vision and mission.
- Drive operational excellence across all social impact programs.
- Identify opportunities for expansion, innovation, and long-term sustainability.
- Support the leadership team in policy development and organizational planning.
Program & Operations Management
- Lead the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of all social justice and empowerment initiatives.
- Ensure timely execution of projects with measurable impact.
- Develop operational systems, SOPs, and quality standards.
- Monitor program budgets, timelines, and performance indicators.
Fundraising & Resource Mobilization
- Develop and execute fundraising strategies to support organizational growth.
- Build and maintain relationships with CSR partners, corporate donors, foundations, HNIs, trusts, and philanthropic organizations.
- Identify and pursue grant opportunities from national and international funding agencies.
- Prepare compelling proposals, concept notes, presentations, and donor reports.
- Lead fundraising campaigns, donor engagement initiatives, and strategic partnerships.
- Ensure compliance with donor requirements and funding guidelines.
CSR & Partnership Development
- Develop strategic partnerships with corporates, government agencies, NGOs, academic institutions, and international organizations.
- Represent the organization in CSR meetings, conferences, networking forums, and stakeholder engagements.
- Build collaborations that enhance the organization's reach and impact.
Government & Stakeholder Engagement
- Liaise with central and state government departments.
- Leverage government schemes and policies to strengthen program outcomes.
- Coordinate with regulatory bodies and ecosystem partners.
- Advocate for inclusive policies and social justice initiatives.
Financial & Compliance Management
- Oversee annual budgets and financial planning.
- Ensure efficient utilization of organizational resources.
- Monitor statutory, legal, CSR, and donor compliance requirements.
- Review financial reports and operational performance.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop multidisciplinary teams.
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance work culture.
- Drive capacity building and professional development initiatives.
- Conduct performance reviews and succession planning.
Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting
- Develop monitoring frameworks and impact measurement systems.
- Present organizational progress to the Board of Directors, donors, and senior leadership.
- Ensure timely submission of project, financial, and donor reports.
Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW), Development Studies, Public Policy, Rural Development, Social Sciences, or related field.
- MBA or Master's in Management is preferred.
- Certification in CSR, Fundraising, Project Management, or NGO Management is an added advantage.
Experience & Skills
- 12–15+ years of leadership experience in NGOs, Foundations, CSR, or Social Impact Organizations.
- Proven experience in managing large-scale social justice and empowerment programs.
- Strong experience in fundraising, CSR partnerships, grant management, and donor relations.
- Excellent understanding of CSR regulations, government schemes, and development sector frameworks.
- Experience managing multi-location teams and cross-functional operations.
- Strong financial planning and budget management skills.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and networking abilities.
- Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and leadership skills.
- High level of integrity, strategic thinking, and decision-making ability.
