Role Overview
As an Architecture Intern at Simulanis, you will support the spatial design and planning of AR-VR labs both the internal lab setup and future client-specific labs that get triggered by project requirements. This role involves a combination of continuous design support (layouts, 3D models, and documentation) and research-driven preparedness, enabling the team to respond efficiently to internal or client-initiated lab build-out requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Drafting & Floor Planning: Create and refine 2D schematic layouts and floor plans usingCAD software (AutoCAD / Revit) to organize equipment, workstations, storage, and circulationpaths for both the internal lab and future client lab setups.
- 3D Visualization & Walkthroughs: Build 3D spatial models and basic renderings (SketchUp,Rhino, or Enscape) to help stakeholders visualize lab flow, spatial density, and structural clearances before physical setup begins.
- Ergonomics & Spatial Efficiency: Optimize space utilization, ensuring proper clearances for safety, movement, ventilation, and cable management across lab environments.
- Safety & Code Compliance: Research local building codes, fire safety regulations, ventilation/lab-specific requirements, and accessibility standards to ensure proposedlayouts comply with facility governance.
- Material & Specification Research: Research and catalog materials, fixtures, furniture, andsurfaces suited to specialized lab environments (durability, chemical resistance, acousticdampening, load capacity).
- Site Visits & Field Review: Visit the internal lab site (and client sites as needed) to assess existing conditions, take measurements, and document constraints that inform design decisions.
- Presentations & Stakeholder Support: Prepare visual presentations and walkthroughs of proposed layouts for internal stakeholders and, where applicable, clients.
- Revisions & Iteration: Incorporate feedback from design leads and stakeholders into redlines and updated drawings.
- Documentation & SOP Support: Convert design decisions and research into clear, reusable documentation to support standard operating procedures for internal and future client lab expansions.
- Willingness to learn and develop AI-driven workflows in design and architecture, along with a readiness to learn Unity 3D.
- Required Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD/Revit and at least one 3D visualization tool (SketchUp, Rhino, or Enscape).
- Working knowledge of building codes, safety standards, and accessibility norms.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to translate technical requirements into clear layouts.
- Good communication skills for cross-functional and client-facing collaboration.
- Portfolio showcasing spatial design or floor planning work is a plus.
