We are looking for a Senior Technical Architect, Frontend for large scale, high traffic eCommerce platforms. This is a client facing, hands on architecture role responsible for defining enterprise UI standards, driving composable and headless commerce solutions, and mentoring frontend engineering teams across multiple programs. The candidate is expected to be framework agnostic, with deep hands on expertise across more than one modern UI framework or library, and the ability to make objective technology choices based on business and platform context.
The work splits two ways. Sometimes you'll join a program that has lost momentum and work out why. Other times you'll start from nothing, design the architecture yourself, and walk senior client stakeholders through it. Either way, you're expected to have built the thing you're talking about.
Beyond delivery, you'll help shape the practice itself: setting technical direction, mentoring frontend teams, and raising the engineering bar across projects.
Key responsibilities
- Minimum 15+ years of experience with good Frontend architecture expertise for high-traffic eCommerce storefronts, from Home and PLP to Checkout and Search
- Headless and composable commerce, with API-driven frontends across REST and GraphQL
- Performance and Core Web Vitals, rendering strategy (SSR/SSG/ISR/CSR), technical SEO and AEO
- Micro frontends and the enterprise design system
- Client-facing architecture reviews, audits, and RFP responses
What we're looking for
- Expert-level React, strong Next.js and TypeScript, with real depth in a second framework (React-only profiles won't move forward)
- At least two implementations taken from architecture through production launch
- Retail or eCommerce domain depth: storefronts, search and merchandising, personalisation, loyalty
Writing clear enough that an audit report or remediation plan holds up without you in the room to present it
