1. Cleaning & Decontamination
- Receive used surgical instruments from operation theaters and wards
- Clean instruments manually or using ultrasonic cleaners and washer-disinfectors
- Remove biological debris (blood, tissue, etc.) safely
2. Inspection & Assembly
- Inspect instruments for cleanliness, damage, or malfunction
- Assemble surgical sets according to standard lists
3. Sterilization
- Operate sterilization equipment such as:
- Autoclaves (steam sterilizers)
- ETO (Ethylene Oxide) sterilizers
- Follow proper sterilization cycles and protocols
4. Packaging & Labeling
- Pack instruments using sterilization wraps or containers
- Label with sterilization dates, batch numbers, and expiry
5. Storage & Distribution
- Store sterile items in a controlled environment
- Issue sterile instruments to departments as required
6. Documentation & Record-Keeping
- Maintain logs of sterilization cycles and equipment usage
- Track inventory and ensure adequate stock levels
7. Infection Control Compliance
- Follow hospital infection control policies
- Use PPE (gloves, masks, gowns) properly
- Ensure compliance with safety and hygiene standards
