Job Description – Endoscope Technician
Position: Endoscope Technician
Department: Endoscopy / Gastroenterology
Key Responsibilities:
Equipment Preparation
- Prepare endoscopy equipment and instruments before procedures.
- Check the functioning of endoscopes, monitors, and accessories.
Assisting During Procedures
- Assist doctors during procedures such as gastroscopy, colonoscopy, and bronchoscopy.
- Provide instruments and support during the examination or treatment.
Cleaning and Sterilization
- Clean, disinfect, and sterilize endoscopes according to hospital infection control protocols.
- Maintain proper documentation of sterilization and equipment usage.
Patient Preparation
- Help in preparing patients before the procedure.
- Ensure patient safety and comfort during the procedure.
Equipment Maintenance
- Maintain endoscopy equipment and report any malfunction to the biomedical department.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of instruments.
Record Keeping
- Maintain procedure logs and equipment usage records.
- Assist in inventory management of endoscopy supplies.
Qualifications
- Diploma / Certificate in Endoscopy Technology / Operation Theatre Technology / Medical Technology.
- Experience in a hospital endoscopy unit is preferred.
