Job Summary
The Emergency Physician is responsible for providing immediate medical assessment, diagnosis, stabilization, and treatment to patients presenting with acute illnesses, trauma, and life-threatening emergencies. The physician ensures timely, evidence-based care while coordinating with specialists and other healthcare professionals to achieve the best patient outcomes.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Responsibilities
- Assess, diagnose, and manage all emergency and trauma patients.
- Perform rapid triage and prioritize patients based on clinical urgency.
- Stabilize critically ill and injured patients before admission, referral, or transfer.
- Manage medical, surgical, orthopedic, pediatric, obstetric, and trauma emergencies.
- Perform emergency procedures such as:
- Advanced airway management and intubation
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Central venous access
- Chest tube insertion
- Wound suturing and minor surgical procedures
- Fracture stabilization and splinting
- Point-of-care ultrasound (where applicable)
- Interpret ECGs, X-rays, laboratory reports, and other diagnostic investigations.
- Coordinate with specialists for admissions, referrals, and emergency surgeries.
- Monitor patients under observation and initiate timely interventions.
- Ensure appropriate pain management and patient comfort.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation.
- Complete emergency records, medico-legal documentation, discharge summaries, and referral notes.
- Ensure compliance with hospital protocols and clinical guidelines.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical audits.
- Report adverse events and patient safety incidents promptly.
Emergency & Trauma Responsibilities
- Lead emergency resuscitation during cardiac arrest, trauma, stroke, poisoning, and other critical events.
- Activate trauma or code teams when required.
- Coordinate with ambulance services for patient transfers.
- Manage mass casualty incidents and disaster preparedness activities.
- Participate in emergency drills and disaster management planning.
Patient Care Responsibilities
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families regarding diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis.
- Obtain informed consent whenever applicable.
- Ensure compassionate, ethical, and patient-centered care.
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with legal and hospital policies.
Quality & Safety Responsibilities
- Follow infection prevention and control protocols.
- Adhere to medication safety standards.
- Ensure proper hand hygiene and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain emergency equipment readiness.
- Ensure crash carts and emergency drugs are checked regularly.
Teaching & Professional Development
- Participate in Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs.
- Train junior doctors, interns, nurses, and emergency staff.
- Stay updated with current emergency medicine guidelines and best practices.
Qualifications
- MBBS with MD/DNB in Emergency Medicine or equivalent.
- MBBS with relevant emergency medicine experience may be considered as per hospital policy.
- Valid Medical Council registration.
- ACLS and BLS certification (mandatory).
- ATLS certification (preferred).
- PALS certification (preferred).
Pay: ₹50,000.00 - ₹100,000.00 per month
Work Location: In person
