About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Group Head – Human Resources / CHRO to lead the people and organizational agenda of a diversified manufacturing organization.
The role will be responsible for shaping and executing the overall HR strategy in alignment with business objectives, building a high-performance culture, strengthening leadership capabilities, driving organizational effectiveness, and ensuring robust people governance across the organization.
The ideal candidate will be a seasoned HR leader with extensive experience in large-scale manufacturing environments, strong business acumen, and proven experience partnering with Promoters, MDs, CXOs, and senior leadership teams.
Key Responsibilities Enterprise HR Strategy & Leadership
- Define and execute the organization-wide HR strategy in alignment with business goals and long-term growth plans.
- Act as a strategic advisor to the Promoters, Board, MD, and senior leadership team on all people and organizational matters.
- Translate business strategy into workforce, talent, culture, and organizational priorities.
- Build scalable HR systems, governance frameworks, policies, and processes for a growing organization.
Organization Design & Transformation
- Lead organization design, restructuring, manpower planning, and workforce productivity initiatives.
- Drive organization-wide transformation and change management initiatives.
- Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability, productivity, innovation, and business results.
- Develop HR metrics, dashboards, and people analytics to support data-driven decision-making.
Manufacturing, Plant HR & Industrial Relations
- Provide strategic direction to HR across manufacturing plants, corporate offices, and multiple locations.
- Lead the organization’s Industrial Relations strategy, including union management, employee relations, negotiations, settlements, grievances, and disciplinary matters.
- Ensure strong workforce productivity, employee engagement, and harmonious employee relations across manufacturing operations.
- Oversee labour law compliance, statutory compliance, audits, inspections, and regulatory governance.
Leadership & Talent Management
- Build a robust leadership pipeline and succession planning framework for critical roles.
- Drive leadership hiring, talent reviews, career development, and high-potential employee programs.
- Develop executive compensation, rewards, retention, and recognition strategies.
- Strengthen the organization’s capability-building and leadership development agenda.
Performance & Culture
- Design and drive enterprise-wide performance management systems aligned with business outcomes.
- Establish a culture of ownership, performance, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Drive employee engagement, retention, culture-building, and organizational development initiatives.
- Develop frameworks for measuring and improving employee experience.
HR Governance & Operational Excellence
- Oversee HR operations, payroll governance, HR policies, HR technology, HRMS, and people processes.
- Drive HR digitization and standardization across locations and business units.
- Ensure strong governance, process discipline, compliance, and internal controls across the HR function.
- Lead, mentor, and build a high-performing HR leadership team.
Business & Stakeholder Management
- Partner closely with Business Heads, Plant Heads, Functional Leaders, and senior management.
- Provide people insights and strategic recommendations to support business growth and profitability.
- Represent the HR function at the highest level within the organization.
- Drive alignment between business objectives, workforce capabilities, leadership effectiveness, and organizational culture.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- 18–25 years of progressive HR experience, with significant experience in large-scale manufacturing organizations.
- Currently or previously working at a senior leadership level such as CHRO, Group HR Head, President – HR, Executive Director – HR, VP – HR, Director – HR, or equivalent.
- Strong experience in leading enterprise-wide HR strategy and large HR teams.
- Proven exposure to manufacturing operations, plant HR, Industrial Relations, labour laws, and multi-location workforce management.
- Experience in managing complex organizations with large employee populations and multiple manufacturing units.
- Strong experience working with Promoters, Board Members, MDs, CXOs, and Business Leadership Teams.
- Demonstrated experience in organization transformation, succession planning, leadership development, performance management, and culture building.
- Excellent strategic thinking, business acumen, stakeholder management, leadership, and communication skills.
