Role Overview
Wandercraft is seeking a Lead Software Engineer with deep backend engineering and system design expertise to architect high-performance, resilient distributed systems. This role involves leading the design of core backend services, providing technical direction, making critical architectural trade-off decisions for high-throughput/low-latency platforms, and mentoring engineers.
Key Responsibilities
System Architecture & Design: Architect and scale distributed backend services and integration platforms built for high throughput, millisecond-level latency, fault tolerance, and horizontal scalability.
Technical Leadership: Drive architectural decisions across APIs, services, messaging, caching, and data stores while mentoring engineers and conducting thorough code and design reviews.
Core Development: Hands-on development using Java and Spring, with heavy utilization of Kafka, Redis, and PostgreSQL.
Performance & Resilience: Identify performance bottlenecks and address complex distributed system challenges around concurrency, data consistency, and failure recovery.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product and engineering teams to estimate complexity, set engineering standards, and deliver robust solutions.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Experience: 8+ years of backend software engineering experience building production-grade distributed systems.
Core Tech Stack: Expert proficiency in Java (concurrency, JVM tuning, memory management) and hands-on experience with Spring, Kafka, Redis, and PostgreSQL.
Distributed Systems & Concurrency: Advanced understanding of caching, messaging, asynchronous processing, fault tolerance, and Java concurrency constructs (Executors, CountDownLatch, CyclicBarrier).
Engineering Best Practices: Solid background in API design, database optimization, CI/CD, Git, automated testing, data structures, and OOP principles.
Bonus Skill: Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor) within structured architectural and security guardrails.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
Pay: ₹2,800,000.00 - ₹3,000,000.00 per year
