We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Lab Trainee to join our healthcare team. The Lab Trainee will assist laboratory professionals in performing routine laboratory activities, sample handling, documentation, and maintaining laboratory standards. This role provides hands-on training in clinical laboratory operations while ensuring compliance with quality and safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities Sample Collection & Handling
- Assist in collecting, labeling, and transporting patient specimens.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of samples as per laboratory guidelines.
- Verify patient information and maintain specimen identification accuracy.
Laboratory Operations
- Support laboratory technicians in routine diagnostic procedures.
- Prepare laboratory equipment, reagents, and consumables for testing.
- Assist in operating laboratory instruments under supervision.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laboratory workspace.
Documentation & Reporting
- Record laboratory data accurately in registers and software systems.
- Assist in preparing reports and maintaining laboratory records.
- Ensure confidentiality of patient information and test results.
Quality & Safety Compliance
- Follow laboratory safety protocols and infection control practices.
- Adhere to quality assurance standards and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Report equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to supervisors.
- Assist in inventory management and stock monitoring of laboratory supplies.
Administrative Support
- Coordinate with healthcare staff regarding specimen collection and report delivery.
- Assist in patient registration and laboratory billing processes when required.
- Support departmental activities and audits.
Qualifications
- Diploma/Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT/BMLT) or related field.
- Freshers are encouraged to apply.
- Basic knowledge of laboratory procedures and medical terminology.
- Proficiency in MS Office and laboratory information systems is an advantage.
