Job Description:
We are seeking a qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) with strong technical grounding and hands-on experience in accounting and taxation to support the accounting and compliance framework for our Alternative Investment Fund (AIF) and associated internal entities of the founder. The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, structured, and capable of independently managing day-to-day accounting, GST, TDS, Income Tax compliance, reconciliations, audit support, and related financial reporting activities. The candidate will also have the opportunity to develop deeper expertise in fund accounting and alternative investment structures.
Responsibilities:
1. AIF Accounting & Fund Support
- Coordinate with the external Fund Accounting Agency for fund accounting activities.
- Assist with NAV review and validation by checking relevant workings and supporting documents.
- Track and reconcile capital calls, drawdowns, distributions, management fees, and other fund-related transactions.
- Reconcile fund-level books with custodian and bank statements.
- Assist in reviewing investor allocation workings and financial statements.
- Support the preparation of quarterly and annual financial reports.
2. Statutory & Tax Compliance
- Prepare and manage GST workings, filings, and reconciliations.
- Prepare and file GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B and ensure timely compliance.
- Perform GST input tax credit reconciliation, including reconciliation with GSTR-2B.
- Calculate and verify TDS deductions and ensure timely payment of TDS.
- Prepare and file applicable TDS returns and undertake TDS reconciliations.
- Handle TDS-related queries, notices, corrections, and documentation.
- Prepare and file Income Tax Returns (ITR) for applicable entities.
- Prepare tax computations and reconcile information with AIS, TIS, and Form 26AS.
- Assist with income tax assessments, notices, and related tax compliance requirements.
3. Internal Accounting & Reconciliations
- Maintain books of accounts for AIF and internal group entities.
- Pass and review routine accounting entries and ensure accurate classification of transactions.
- Perform bank, ledger, vendor, customer, and inter-company reconciliations.
- Handle invoicing, expense accounting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable processes.
- Track management fee income, advisory income, and expense allocations.
- Ensure proper documentation and supporting records for accounting and tax transactions.
4. Audit & Financial Reporting Support
- Coordinate with statutory auditors, tax consultants, and other professional advisors as required.
- Prepare audit schedules, workings, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
- Respond to audit queries and provide the required information and documentation.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Ensure books and records are maintained in an audit-ready manner.
5. Banking & Treasury Support
- Monitor fund and entity bank accounts and ensure transactions are properly recorded.
- Perform regular bank reconciliations and identify discrepancies.
- Track fund inflows and outflows.
- Support cash flow tracking and treasury-related reporting.
- Assist in maintaining liquidity and payment trackers.
6. MIS, Controls & Process Improvement
- Prepare periodic accounting, GST, TDS, and tax compliance MIS.
- Maintain statutory compliance trackers and ensure timely completion of assigned activities.
- Identify accounting and compliance discrepancies and escalate them appropriately.
- Support strengthening of internal financial controls and documentation.
- Assist in streamlining accounting and compliance workflows.
- Support automation and process improvement initiatives for accounting and statutory compliance.
Candidate Profile:
- Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA)
- 1–3 years of post-qualification experience
- Strong hands-on experience in GST, TDS, and Income Tax / ITR compliance
- Experience in AIF, fund accounting, NBFC, wealth management, financial services, or a family office is preferred
- Prior exposure to AIF structures and fund accounting is a strong value-add
- Strong understanding of GST, TDS, Income Tax, and accounting principles
- Hands-on experience with GST Portal, Income Tax Portal, and TRACES
- Working knowledge of accounting software (Tally / Zoho / ERP systems)
- Strong Excel skills and ability to work with financial data and reconciliations
- Good understanding of financial statements and audit processes
- Ability to independently manage routine accounting and tax compliance activities
