Job Summary
The Boiler Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and uninterrupted operation of boilers and associated utility systems. The role ensures continuous steam generation for production while maintaining compliance with safety regulations, statutory requirements, and company SOPs.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor boilers, steam generation systems, and associated utility equipment.
- Maintain the required steam pressure and temperature as per production requirements.
- Conduct routine inspections of boilers, pumps, valves, pipelines, water treatment systems, and safety devices.
- Monitor boiler parameters such as pressure, temperature, water level, fuel consumption, and feed water quality.
- Perform boiler blowdown, water testing, and chemical dosing as per SOPs.
- Maintain accurate operational logbooks, shift reports, and maintenance records.
- Ensure compliance with the Indian Boiler Regulations (IBR), safety standards, and statutory requirements.
- Coordinate with the maintenance team for preventive and breakdown maintenance.
- Identify and report abnormalities, equipment faults, and unsafe conditions promptly.
- Maintain proper housekeeping in the boiler and utility area.
- Ensure safe handling and storage of fuel and boiler chemicals.
- Support energy conservation initiatives by optimizing boiler efficiency.
- Assist during internal, customer, and regulatory audits.
- Follow all Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) guidelines and wear appropriate PPE.
Qualifications
- ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Boiler Operation, or a related technical discipline.
- Valid Boiler Operator Competency Certificate / Boiler Attendant Certificate (as applicable under state regulations).
- IBR certification (preferred or mandatory as per statutory requirements).
Experience
- 2–5 years of experience operating industrial boilers in the pharmaceutical, chemical, food, or manufacturing industry.
- Experience with solid fuel, gas-fired, oil-fired, or biomass boilers is preferred.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of boiler operations, steam systems, and water treatment.
- Understanding of IBR rules and industrial safety practices.
- Ability to monitor and troubleshoot boiler equipment.
- Basic mechanical maintenance knowledge.
- Good documentation and record-keeping skills.
- Strong problem-solving and communication abilities.
- Ability to work in shifts and respond to emergency situations.

- Continuous and uninterrupted steam supply.
- Compliance with IBR and statutory safety requirements.
- Boiler efficiency and fuel consumption optimization.
- Preventive maintenance completion as per schedule.
- Zero safety incidents related to boiler operations.
- Accuracy and completeness of operational records and logbooks.
Working Conditions
- Manufacturing plant environment.
- Shift-based duty, including weekends and holidays as required.
- Exposure to high-temperature equipment, steam systems, and industrial utilities; use of PPE is mandatory.
Pay: ₹16,000.00 - ₹24,000.00 per month
