The PDI Technician is responsible for conducting Pre-Delivery Inspections (PDI) on new vehicles before they are delivered to customers. The role ensures that every vehicle meets manufacturer quality standards, is free from defects, and is ready for safe and satisfactory delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) on new vehicles as per manufacturer guidelines.
- Inspect mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems to ensure proper functioning.
- Check engine, transmission, steering, suspension, brakes, and clutch systems.
- Inspect battery condition, lighting, wiring, horn, wipers, and other electrical components.
- Verify fluid levels, tyre pressure, wheel alignment, and torque settings.
- Conduct vehicle road tests where required to confirm performance and safety.
- Identify and rectify minor defects before vehicle delivery.
- Install and inspect accessories as per customer requirements.
- Complete PDI checklists and maintain accurate inspection records.
- Coordinate with the Spare Parts Department for replacement of defective parts.
- Ensure vehicle cleanliness and readiness for customer delivery.
- Report major defects to the Workshop Supervisor for corrective action.
- Follow manufacturer service manuals, quality standards, and safety procedures.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
Required Qualifications
- ITI in Diesel Mechanic, Motor Mechanic Vehicle (MMV), Auto Electrician, or equivalent.
- Diploma in Automobile Engineering (preferred).
- 1–3 years of experience in an automobile dealership or commercial vehicle workshop.
- Freshers with relevant technical qualifications may also be considered.
