Department: Digital Water & Distribution
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: As per industry standards
Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced PLC & Process Control Engineer to design, program, and optimize PLC-based control logic for water distribution assets. The role is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of collector wells, booster sumps, pumping stations, and pressure management systems, with a strong focus on cascade pumping, pressure control, surge protection, and power management.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop standardized and modular PLC programs for Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider, or equivalent platforms tailored to water distribution applications.
- Program advanced control sequences for collector wells and booster sumps, including duty/assist/standby pump alternation, dry-run protection, and cascade level control between upstream and downstream reservoirs.
- Develop and optimize control logic for integration with Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV) and Pressure Boosting (PRB) stations to maintain stable downstream pressure within District Metered Areas (DMAs).
- Implement surge protection logic, including rapid valve closure sequences and pump ramp-down controls through Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) integration to prevent water hammer and pipeline failures.
- Develop automatic power management and changeover logic for Grid, Diesel Generator (DG), and Solar power systems to ensure uninterrupted water distribution during power outages.
- Review and validate electrical schematics, I/O lists, control philosophies, and panel layout drawings for pump control panels and valve actuator control panels.
- Support testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and performance optimization of PLC-based control systems across distribution assets.
Qualifications
- B.E./B.Tech or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related discipline.
- 6–10 years of experience in PLC programming and process control systems.
- Mandatory hands-on experience with VFD integration, pumping station automation, and water distribution control logic.
- Experience with Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider, or equivalent PLC platforms.
