Job Summary
We are seeking a qualified and proactive Safety Officer with 3– 8 years of experience in real estate or construction projects. The candidate will be responsible for implementing Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, promoting a safe work culture, and minimizing workplace risks across project sites.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Implement and monitor Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and standards across construction sites.
- Conduct daily site safety inspections to identify unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and potential hazards.
- Carry out hazard identification, risk assessments, and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for construction activities.
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety laws, client requirements, and company HSE standards.
- Monitor high-risk activities such as work at height, excavation, lifting operations, scaffolding, confined space entry, hot work, and electrical work.
- Administer the Permit to Work (PTW) system for critical activities.
- Verify the availability and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by employees and contractors.
- Conduct safety induction programs for new employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Organize toolbox talks, safety awareness campaigns, and refresher training sessions.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Prepare and maintain HSE documentation, including inspection reports, incident reports, permits, and statutory records.
- Coordinate emergency preparedness activities, including mock drills, fire safety inspections, and first-aid arrangements.
- Monitor contractor safety performance and ensure compliance with contractual HSE requirements.
- Conduct regular audits of scaffolding, lifting equipment, temporary electrical systems, machinery, and firefighting equipment.
- Ensure good housekeeping practices and safe storage of construction materials.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly HSE reports for project management.
- Support internal and external HSE audits and ensure timely closure of audit observations.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, contractors, and consultants to maintain a safe working environment.
- Promote continuous improvement in safety performance and foster a positive safety culture.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related discipline.
- Diploma in Industrial Safety (preferred)
Experience
- 3–5 years of experience as a Safety Officer in real estate, commercial, residential, or high-rise construction projects.
- Experience working with developers
- Practical knowledge of construction safety management systems and regulatory compliance.
