About the Role
Chrisvin Geomet Services Pvt. Ltd. is looking for a technically skilled System & Service Engineer to support the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and servicing of computer systems, technical equipment and software applications.
The candidate will be responsible for equipment installation, system configuration, hardware/software troubleshooting, Linux system administration and technical support.
The ideal candidate should have strong problem-solving skills and be comfortable working with both hardware and software systems.
Strong knowledge of Linux OS is mandatory for this position.
Key Responsibilities
1. Equipment Installation & Commissioning
- Install, configure and commission computer systems, technical equipment and related infrastructure.
- Perform system setup and configuration according to technical requirements.
- Install operating systems, drivers, applications and required software.
- Ensure equipment and systems are functioning correctly after installation.
- Maintain installation and configuration records.
2. Equipment Service & Repair
- Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware and system-related issues.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of equipment.
- Identify hardware failures and coordinate repair or replacement.
- Troubleshoot issues related to desktops, servers, workstations, networking equipment and peripherals.
- Maintain service records and equipment history.
- Respond to technical service requests and resolve issues within the required timeframe.
3. Linux System Administration
- Install, configure and maintain Linux operating systems.
- Perform Linux system troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Manage users, groups, permissions and system configurations.
- Work with Linux command-line tools and shell commands.
- Monitor system performance, disk space, CPU and memory utilization.
- Troubleshoot system services and application-related issues.
- Perform software installation, updates and package management.
- Configure and maintain basic Linux services.
- Support Linux-based servers and workstations.
4. Software Installation & Support
- Install, configure and maintain software applications.
- Troubleshoot software installation and compatibility issues.
- Support application configuration and system integration.
- Perform software updates, patches and upgrades.
- Maintain software licenses and installation records.
- Assist users with application-related technical issues.
5. System Administration
- Configure and maintain desktops, workstations and servers.
- Monitor system health and performance.
- Perform system backups and basic recovery procedures.
- Maintain system security and access permissions.
- Troubleshoot operating system and application failures.
- Support system upgrades and infrastructure improvements.
6. Networking & Connectivity
- Troubleshoot basic LAN/WAN and network connectivity issues.
- Configure and troubleshoot IP addresses, DNS and basic network settings.
- Troubleshoot connectivity between systems and equipment.
- Coordinate with network/IT teams for complex infrastructure issues.
- Support network-connected equipment and systems.
7. Technical Support
- Provide on-site and remote technical support to users.
- Diagnose issues systematically and provide appropriate solutions.
- Respond to technical incidents and service requests.
- Maintain proper documentation of troubleshooting activities.
- Escalate complex technical issues to the appropriate team.
- Provide technical guidance to users when required.
8. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain records related to:
- Equipment installation
- Equipment servicing and repairs
- Hardware inventory
- Software installations
- System configurations
- Maintenance activities
- Technical incidents
- Troubleshooting activities
- Replacement parts and equipment
Prepare regular service and maintenance reports for management.
Required Qualification
· B.E. – ECE / EEE
· Strong knowledge of Linux Operating System – Mandatory.
· Good understanding of computer hardware and software.
· Knowledge of system administration and troubleshooting.
· Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Good communication and documentation skills.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a technical team.
· Willingness to travel is required for this position.
· Minimum contract period: 2 years.
· ECE / EEE graduates can apply.
· Must have basic knowledge of networking (static/dynamic IP concepts).

Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate should be a hands-on Computer Science / IT Engineer who enjoys troubleshooting both hardware and software problems.
The candidate must be comfortable working with Linux-based systems, installing and configuring software, servicing technical equipment and diagnosing system failures.
The person should have a strong troubleshooting mindset, be willing to work on-site when required and have the ability to understand technical problems and provide practical solutions.
Mandatory Requirement
Strong working knowledge of Linux OS is mandatory.
The candidate should be comfortable using the Linux command line and performing basic system administration, configuration and troubleshooting.
Additional Requirements
- Willingness to travel to client/customer locations for installation and service support when required.
- Ability to work outside normal business hours during critical system issues, if required.
- Good documentation and reporting skills.
- Strong willingness to learn new technologies and technical systems.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
