What You'll Do
- Write production code daily — this is not a pure coordination or people-management role. Expect 70%+ hands-on time in the codebase.
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact between the offshore engineering pod and onshore product managers/engineering leads, joining planning, backlog refinement, and design discussions.
- Break down features and technical designs handed down from onshore leads into actionable, well-scoped work for the offshore team.
- Review pull requests, enforce coding standards, and guard architectural consistency across the Compass Platform codebase (.NET Core, PostgreSQL, Azure SQL).
- Develop highly responsive, scalable, and user-friendly web applications using React.js (Expert Level) and TypeScript
- Drive adoption of AI-assisted development practices across the offshore pod — code generation, review, and testing tooling — as part of Compass's AI-driven SDLC.
- Identify technical risks, dependencies, and tradeoffs early, and surface them proactively to onshore stakeholders.
- Own delivery quality for offshore-led workstreams: testing, code review discipline, CI/CD hygiene, and production readiness.
- Participate in incident response and troubleshooting for issues affecting Compass Platform in production.
- Contribute to technical documentation and onboarding material for the offshore team
What You'll Do
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including significant recent hands-on coding.
- Strong, current experience with React.js, .NET Core, PostgreSQL, and Azure SQL in production environments.
- Experience with AI-assisted or AI-driven SDLC tooling (e.g., AI code generation, review, or test-authoring tools) — comfortable evaluating and championing these practices with the team, not just using them individually.
- 5+ years leading or acting as technical lead for a team, ideally in an offshore/nearshore delivery model working with an onshore counterpart.
- Track record of shipping production features end-to-end: design, implementation, testing, deployment.
- Comfortable operating with overlapping hours against a US-based onshore team; strong async communication skills.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
