Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Azure Platform Engineer to design, implement, and manage secure, scalable, and highly available cloud infrastructure on Microsoft Azure. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Azure Cloud Services, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Kubernetes, DevOps, CI/CD automation, cloud security, monitoring, and platform operations.
In this role, you will work closely with development, security, and operations teams to build and maintain cloud-native infrastructure, automate deployments, ensure platform reliability, and implement enterprise-grade security and compliance standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesAzure Cloud Platform Engineering
- Design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure and enterprise workloads on Microsoft Azure.
- Build scalable, resilient, and highly available cloud solutions following Azure best practices.
- Configure and maintain Azure services, networking, storage, identity, and compute resources.
- Monitor platform performance and optimize cloud infrastructure for reliability and scalability.
- Plan and execute infrastructure upgrades, maintenance, and platform enhancements.
Infrastructure as Code & Automation
- Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and deployment processes.
- Build reusable infrastructure modules and deployment templates.
- Improve operational efficiency through automation and scripting.
- Maintain infrastructure configuration and version control using Git.
DevOps & CI/CD
- Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, and related tools.
- Automate application deployment, testing, and release processes.
- Integrate security scanning, code quality analysis, and deployment validation into CI/CD pipelines.
- Collaborate with development teams to enable continuous integration and continuous delivery practices.
- Support Git-based development workflows and release management.
Kubernetes & Container Platform
- Deploy, manage, and optimize containerized applications using Docker and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
- Configure Kubernetes clusters for high availability, scalability, and security.
- Manage container lifecycle, orchestration, and deployment strategies.
- Troubleshoot Kubernetes workloads and optimize cluster performance.
Security & Compliance
- Implement Azure security best practices across cloud infrastructure.
- Configure and manage Azure Security Center (Microsoft Defender for Cloud), Azure Entra ID (Azure Active Directory), Azure Key Vault, and identity services.
- Perform vulnerability assessments, security scanning, and remediation activities.
- Ensure secure coding practices are integrated into development and deployment workflows.
- Implement regulatory compliance controls and security policies for Azure infrastructure.
- Collaborate with security teams to strengthen cloud governance and risk management.
Monitoring & Site Reliability
- Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions using tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, and New Relic.
- Monitor infrastructure health, application performance, and system availability.
- Perform incident response, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis for production issues.
- Develop dashboards, operational metrics, and health reports.
- Apply Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles to improve platform stability and operational excellence.
Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity
- Design and implement backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity strategies.
- Conduct disaster recovery planning, testing, and validation exercises.
- Ensure platform resilience and rapid recovery capabilities.
Documentation & Collaboration
- Create and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, operational procedures, and runbooks.
- Define cloud engineering standards, deployment guidelines, and best practices.
- Collaborate with software engineers, DevOps teams, architects, and security teams on platform initiatives.
- Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and knowledge sharing to team members.
Cost Optimization
- Monitor Azure resource utilization and recommend cost optimization strategies.
- Identify opportunities to improve infrastructure efficiency while maintaining performance and reliability.
- Support cloud governance and budgeting initiatives.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in Azure Platform Engineering, Cloud Infrastructure, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineering.
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services.
- Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
- Hands-on experience with Docker and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD tools including GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, SonarQube, and CodeQL.
- Experience with source control using Git and modern DevOps practices.
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, and New Relic.
- Strong understanding of Azure security services including:
- Microsoft Defender for Cloud (Azure Security Center)
- Azure Entra ID (Azure Active Directory)
- Azure Key Vault
- Identity and Access Management (IAM)
- Experience performing vulnerability assessments, security scanning, and remediation.
- Knowledge of secure coding practices and DevSecOps principles.
- Experience implementing cloud security controls and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and production support experience.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on scripting experience using PowerShell, Bash, Python, YAML, or JSON.
- Experience with cloud automation and orchestration.
- Good understanding of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles.
- Experience implementing cloud governance and operational best practices.
- Knowledge of Azure networking, virtual networks, load balancers, firewalls, and hybrid cloud connectivity.
- Experience with backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.
- Microsoft Azure certifications such as:
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
- Microsoft Certified: Azure DevOps Engineer Expert
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate
