Job Summary
The Interface & Installation Manager (Telecom) is responsible for managing all telecom system interfaces, installation activities, coordination between multidisciplinary stakeholders, and ensuring successful integration of telecom systems within metro railway projects. The role oversees installation planning, site execution, interface management, design coordination, safety compliance, quality assurance, testing support, and timely project delivery.The position acts as the primary coordinator between Telecom, Signalling, Power Supply, Trackwork, Civil, Architectural, AFC, PSD, Rolling Stock, and Operations teams to ensure seamless implementation of telecom infrastructure and systems.
Key Responsibilities
Interface Management
- Manage technical and physical interfaces between telecom systems and other railway subsystems.
- Coordinate interface activities involving:
- Signalling Systems
- SCADA Systems
- Power Supply Systems
- Rolling Stock
- Automatic Fare Collection (AFC)
- Platform Screen Doors (PSD)
- Operation Control Centers (OCC)
- Civil & Architectural Works
- Depot Systems
- Develop and maintain Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
- Conduct interface review meetings and resolve cross-functional issues.
- Track interface closure and monitor compliance against project milestones.
- Coordinate with customers, consultants, contractors, and subcontractors regarding interface requirements.
Installation Management
- Develop telecom installation strategies and implementation plans.
- Supervise installation activities for:
- Fiber Optic Backbone Network
- Transmission Systems
- IP/MPLS Networks
- CCTV Systems
- Public Address (PA) Systems
- Passenger Information Display Systems (PIDS)
- Telephone Systems
- Radio Systems (TETRA/LTE)
- Master Clock Systems
- Access Control Systems
- Review installation drawings and implementation methodologies.
- Ensure installation works comply with approved drawings and standards.
- Monitor installation progress and address site issues proactively.
Site Coordination & Construction Support
- Coordinate installation works with:
- Civil Contractors
- MEP Contractors
- Track Contractors
- Depot Contractors
- Signalling Contractors
- Resolve site clashes and installation constraints.
- Participate in multidisciplinary coordination meetings.
- Support construction planning and work sequencing activities.
Design Review & Engineering Coordination
- Review telecom design packages for constructability.
- Validate cable routing, equipment room layouts, and equipment locations.
- Coordinate design modifications arising during construction.
- Ensure design changes are properly documented and approved.
Project Planning & Monitoring
- Prepare installation schedules and resource plans.
- Monitor project progress against baseline programs.
- Identify risks affecting installation activities.
- Develop mitigation and recovery plans when required.
- Support project reporting and management reviews.
Quality Management
- Ensure compliance with project quality plans.
- Conduct installation inspections and audits.
- Review inspection and test plans (ITP).
- Monitor NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports) and corrective actions.
- Verify installation quality before handover to testing teams.
Safety Management
- Promote compliance with project HSE requirements.
- Ensure safe execution of telecom installation activities.
- Participate in safety audits and site inspections.
- Conduct risk assessments and method statement reviews.
- Ensure compliance with local railway and construction safety regulations.
Testing & Commissioning Support
- Support Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) activities.
- Support Site Acceptance Test (SAT) and Integrated Testing activities.
- Coordinate installation readiness for testing and commissioning.
- Assist in system integration and interface validation.
- Facilitate defect resolution and punch-point closure.
Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the primary focal point for telecom installation and interfaces.

- Prepare and present interface status reports.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in:
- Telecommunications Engineering
- Electronics & Communication Engineering
Experience
For Manager Level
- 10 years of telecom engineering experience.
- Proven experience in installation management and interface coordination.
For Senior Manager Level
- 15+ years of experience.
- Experience managing large-scale metro rail or railway projects.
- Experience overseeing multidisciplinary interfaces and commissioning activities.
