Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Furnace Foreman to independently manage the complete induction furnace operations, production, manpower, and quality on the shop floor. The candidate should have strong technical knowledge of steel melting, alloy additions, process control, and team management to ensure smooth production with minimum rejection and downtime.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Furnace Operations
- Independently supervise complete induction furnace operations.
- Plan and execute daily melting schedule as per production requirements.
- Ensure timely charging, melting, tapping, and heat completion.
- Maintain optimum furnace productivity with minimum downtime.
- Monitor furnace lining condition and coordinate maintenance requirements.
- Ensure proper utilization of raw materials and consumables.
Quality Control
- Ensure correct charge mix and alloy additions as per grade requirements.
- Achieve the required chemical composition and tapping temperature.
- Coordinate with Spectrometer/QC team and take corrective actions whenever required.
- Minimize rejection, rework, and process deviations.
- Maintain consistency in steel quality and process parameters.
Manpower Management
- Lead and supervise furnace operators, helpers, and shift manpower.
- Allocate work and monitor labour productivity.
- Maintain discipline, attendance, and shift coordination.
- Train operators and helpers on safe and efficient furnace practices.
Safety & Housekeeping
- Ensure compliance with all safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- Maintain proper housekeeping in the furnace and melting area.
- Prevent unsafe practices and report any safety hazards immediately.
Coordination & Reporting
- Coordinate with Production, Maintenance, Store, and Quality departments.
- Maintain daily heat records, production reports, and shift handover reports.
- Report production status, breakdowns, and quality issues to management.
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum 10+ years of hands-on experience in induction furnace operations in a steel manufacturing or foundry unit.
- Strong knowledge of steel grades, charge mix, alloy additions, melting practices, temperature control, and tapping.
- Excellent manpower handling and leadership skills.
- Ability to independently manage complete furnace operations and quality.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Qualification: ITI / Diploma / Graduate (Preferred)
