Job Summary
The Neurosurgeon will be responsible for diagnosing and treating disorders affecting the brain, spine, peripheral nerves, and cerebrovascular system. The candidate will perform complex neurosurgical procedures, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and provide comprehensive patient care from evaluation through post-operative recovery.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and evaluate patients with neurological disorders, brain injuries, spinal conditions, tumors, and nerve-related diseases.
- Perform elective and emergency neurosurgical procedures involving the brain, spine, and nervous system.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient assessments, diagnostic findings, and clinical guidelines.
- Review and interpret imaging studies, including CT scans, MRI scans, angiograms, and other diagnostic tests.
- Provide pre-operative counseling and post-operative care to patients and their families.
- Collaborate closely with neurologists, intensivists, anesthesiologists, radiologists, rehabilitation specialists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in emergency and trauma care services related to neurosurgical cases.
- Maintain accurate patient records, surgical notes, and treatment documentation.
- Ensure compliance with hospital protocols, quality standards, patient safety measures, and ethical medical practices.
- Participate in clinical meetings, academic activities, case discussions, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Mentor junior doctors, residents, and medical staff when required.
Qualifications & Requirements
- MBBS with MS/DNB in General Surgery and MCh/DNB in Neurosurgery.
- Valid medical registration with the National Medical Commission (NMC) or applicable regulatory authority.
- Proven experience in neurosurgical practice within a reputed hospital setting.
- Expertise in cranial, spinal, and minimally invasive neurosurgical procedures is preferred.
- Strong clinical decision-making, surgical, and diagnostic skills.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and patient-care abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in neuro-trauma management.
- Expertise in spine surgery and advanced neurosurgical techniques.
- Familiarity with modern neurosurgical equipment and navigation systems.
