About the Role
Title : Sr.Chemist / R&D Executive- Flooring
Department: R&D
Location: Jhagadia/Navi Mumbai
Reports to: Technology Lead Flooring
Overview
The R&D Chemist is responsible for the Develop, improve, or customize products, formulae as per standard methods/specifications. Following are primary and key responsibilities.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Development of new products / technology in the field of construction chemicals (Flooring).

Development of new formulations or optimizing existing formulations by identifying cost competitive raw materials.

Testing of existing or newly developed products and developing new test methods & specification when needed.
-
Maintain accurate records of laboratory experiments related to product development.
-
Responsible for scale up of new products from laboratory to full commercialization.
-
New colour shade development, modification & matching as per standard RAL shade. Support QC on colour shade matching.

Set up QC specifications of newly developed products & co-ordinate with production team to implement proper manufacturing process.

Taking part in new/alternate vendor development in collaboration with procurement team.
-
Understanding of safety and regulations related to safe operations of research laboratory and chemical handling is required.

Update and maintain calibration data for all laboratory equipment as per laboratory calibration plan and all ISO related activities.

Troubleshooting – support Technical, QC and Operations team as and when required.

Interact with Vendors, third party Test houses & certification bodies on need basis.

Execute / Implement the CAPEX items allocated within the agreed timelines.

Ensuring the ecology & safety of selected raw materials, intermediate & final products as per EHS process.

Ensure optimum lab space utilization and housekeeping always, proper maintenance of 5S in Lab.

Maintaining secrecy, safeguarding confidential information & complying with Sika policies.

Support to internal online processes- PCP, NUAGE & SAP etc.

Set up good teamwork—well coordination with R&D team and support functions.
Qualifications:
-
BSc /MSc degree in Chemistry/ B. Tech in Chemical engineering or Polymer Science.
Desired Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in product development in Construction Chemical Company for Flooring & Coatings products. Understanding of chemistries used in construction chemicals such as acrylic, epoxy, polyurethane etc. is highly desirable. Knowledge of colour shade development and colour shade matching will be an advantage.
