Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled and responsible Civil Engineer to oversee the hospital’s civil infrastructure, maintenance, renovation, and construction activities. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all civil works are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with approved drawings, quality standards, hospital requirements, and applicable statutory regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and monitor all civil construction, renovation, repair, and maintenance works within the hospital premises.
- Inspect hospital buildings, structures, flooring, walls, ceilings, roofs, drainage systems, roads, parking areas, and other civil infrastructure.
- Prepare and review BOQs, estimates, work orders, material requirements, and project schedules.
- Coordinate with contractors, consultants, architects, vendors, and hospital departments.
- Monitor contractors and ensure work is executed according to approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections and ensure proper workmanship and use of approved materials.
- Identify structural defects, water leakage, cracks, seepage, dampness, and other civil-related issues and recommend corrective measures.
- Plan and supervise preventive and breakdown maintenance of civil infrastructure.
- Ensure minimal disruption to hospital operations, patient care areas, OT, ICU, wards, laboratories, and other critical departments during construction or maintenance activities.
- Coordinate with the Engineering, Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, Fire & Safety, Biomedical, and Facility Management teams for integrated works.
- Verify contractor bills, measurements, material quantities, and completed works before certification.
- Maintain records of measurements, work orders, maintenance activities, drawings, inspection reports, and project documentation.
- Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, safety requirements, hospital standards, and statutory regulations.
- Monitor project costs and help control unnecessary expenditure.
- Support hospital expansion, new construction, refurbishment, and infrastructure development projects.
- Coordinate with statutory authorities and external agencies whenever required.
- Respond promptly to civil-related emergencies such as water leakage, structural damage, drainage blockage, or other infrastructure failures.
- Participate in audits, inspections, safety reviews, and accreditation-related requirements.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment at all civil work sites.
Required Qualifications
- B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
- Relevant experience in hospital, healthcare, commercial building, infrastructure, or facility management projects preferred.
- Knowledge of civil construction, maintenance, estimation, BOQ, billing, and contractor management.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and MS Office.
- Familiarity with construction materials, specifications, quality control, and site supervision.
- Knowledge of applicable building and safety regulations.
Experience
Preferred: 3–8 years of relevant experience.
Candidates with hospital/facility-management experience will be given preference.
