Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced, dynamic, and results-oriented General Manager – Operations & Administration to lead and oversee the complete operational and administrative functions of our manufacturing plant in Nashik.
The incumbent will be responsible for driving operational excellence, improving productivity, controlling costs, strengthening processes, and ensuring seamless coordination across Production, Purchase, Accounts, HR, Dispatch, Stores, and Service departments.
The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in manufacturing, heavy engineering, fabrication, and industrial equipment operations, with a proven track record of leading large teams and managing a complete factory or plant.
Marketing and Design functions are excluded from this role.
Key Responsibilities1. Overall Operational Leadership
- Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the manufacturing plant.
- Ensure smooth coordination between Production, Purchase, Stores, Dispatch, Service, Accounts, and HR.
- Drive operational efficiency, productivity, quality, cost control, and timely delivery.
- Monitor departmental performance through KPIs and regular reviews.
- Identify operational bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.
2. Manufacturing & Plant Operations
- Oversee complete manufacturing operations involving heavy engineering, fabrication, industrial equipment, and machinery manufacturing.
- Ensure efficient production planning, workflow management, manpower utilization, and resource allocation.
- Improve manufacturing processes, productivity, quality, and delivery performance.
- Ensure proper coordination between production planning, material availability, stores, and dispatch.
- Promote continuous improvement and operational excellence across the plant.
3. Process, Systems & Compliance
- Establish, implement, and monitor company policies, systems, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Ensure process discipline and accountability across all departments.
- Develop effective reporting and review mechanisms.
- Ensure compliance with applicable statutory requirements, labour laws, company policies, and regulatory standards.
- Strengthen internal controls and operational governance.
4. Strategic Procurement & Vendor Management
- Lead the Purchase and Procurement function to ensure timely and cost-effective sourcing of materials.
- Develop strategic purchasing and vendor management systems.
- Negotiate with suppliers to achieve competitive pricing, quality, payment terms, and delivery schedules.
- Build and maintain strong, reliable, and long-term vendor relationships.
- Develop alternate vendor sources and reduce supply chain risks.
- Drive cost reduction and procurement efficiency initiatives.
5. Inventory & Stores Management
- Oversee inventory planning, material control, and stores operations.
- Ensure optimum inventory levels and minimize excess, obsolete, and slow-moving inventory.
- Improve material tracking, stock accuracy, and inventory control systems.
- Ensure timely availability of critical raw materials, components, and consumables.
6. Dispatch & Logistics
- Ensure timely and efficient dispatch of finished products and machinery.
- Coordinate with Production, Stores, Service, and other departments for smooth dispatch operations.
- Improve dispatch planning, documentation, logistics coordination, and delivery timelines.
- Ensure proper handling and movement of heavy engineering equipment.
7. Accounts & Financial Control
- Work closely with the Accounts and Finance team to monitor financial performance.
- Review operational costs, expenses, profitability, and cost-control initiatives.
- Drive cost reduction and improve overall financial efficiency.
- Ensure commercial discipline and compliance with company financial policies.
- Support management in budgeting, financial analysis, and business decision-making.
8. HR & People Management
- Provide leadership and direction to the HR function.
- Strengthen manpower planning, recruitment, performance management, training, and employee development systems.
- Promote discipline, accountability, teamwork, and a high-performance culture.
- Handle employee relations and conflict resolution effectively.
- Ensure compliance with applicable labour laws and statutory requirements.
9. Service & Customer Support Coordination
- Oversee the Service Department and ensure timely resolution of customer service requirements.
- Improve coordination between Service, Production, Stores, and other departments.
- Monitor service response, breakdown support, spare parts requirements, and customer satisfaction.
- Ensure effective after-sales operational support.
10. Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop department heads and senior managers.
- Establish clear responsibilities, accountability, and performance expectations.
- Foster a collaborative, disciplined, and high-performance work culture.
- Demonstrate strong communication, decision-making, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong expertise in manufacturing and plant operations.
- Extensive experience in heavy engineering and fabrication industries.
- Strong understanding of production workflows and industrial manufacturing processes.
- Excellent knowledge of procurement, vendor development, and commercial negotiations.
- Strong understanding of inventory control, stores, dispatch, and logistics.
- Financial understanding with the ability to analyze costs and drive cost reduction.
- Strong knowledge of HR practices and statutory labour compliance.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and people-management skills.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple departments and large teams.
- Strong focus on productivity, efficiency, quality, cost control, and timely delivery.
Qualification
Graduate / Post Graduate in:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Production Engineering
- Or a related technical discipline
Experience
20–30 years of proven experience in:
- Manufacturing
- Heavy Engineering
- Fabrication
- Industrial Machinery / Equipment Manufacturing
- Plant Operations
Candidates should have significant experience in senior leadership roles such as:
- General Manager – Operations
- Plant Head
- Factory Head
- Works Manager
- Operations Head
- Senior General Manager – Manufacturing
Experience in managing multiple functions and heading a complete manufacturing plant will be highly preferred.
Compensation
₹15,00,000 – ₹21,00,000 per annum (CTC)
Compensation will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and suitability for the role.

The ideal candidate will be a mature, hands-on, and strategic manufacturing leader with the ability to manage the complete operational ecosystem of a heavy engineering and fabrication organization.
The candidate must possess strong leadership capabilities, commercial acumen, operational discipline, and the ability to work closely with the Managing Director to drive organizational growth, operational excellence, profitability, and long-term business success.
