About the Role
We're looking for an experienced Bookkeeper with hands-on US bookkeeping experience and a strong understanding of construction, roofing, or other skilled trades businesses.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with contractor-based businesses and understands the financial workflows behind project-based operations. You'll maintain accurate books, support monthly closes, help clients stay on top of cash flow, and provide timely financial information that helps business owners make better decisions.
You'll manage a portfolio of US-based clients, work closely with internal account managers, and communicate directly with clients when needed.
Accuracy, ownership, responsiveness, and clear communication are essential for success in this role.
What You'll Do
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date books for US-based clients using QuickBooks Online.
- Perform bank and credit card reconciliations.
- Record and review transactions, journal entries, and month-end adjustments.
- Support monthly close activities and ensure reporting deadlines are met.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Track customer invoices, payments, and outstanding receivables.
- Assist with job costing and project profitability reporting.
- Support clients managing multiple projects, crews, subcontractors, vendors, and job sites.
- Identify bookkeeping discrepancies and resolve issues proactively.
- Maintain organized supporting documentation and audit trails.
- Follow established accounting processes and best practices.
- Communicate professionally with US-based clients through email, Slack, and occasional video meetings.
- Collaborate closely with internal account managers to deliver an outstanding client experience.

You don't need experience with every platform, but familiarity with contractor workflows and software is a must. This reflects the team's expectation that future hires become comfortable working alongside industry-specific CRMs that integrate with QuickBooks.

Communication Requirements
Communication is a critical part of this role.
You'll work directly with US-based business owners and collaborate closely with internal account managers. The ideal candidate can communicate professionally, confidently, and clearly through email, Slack, and occasional video calls.
Candidates should have strong spoken and written English. English proficiency equivalent to CEFR B2 or above (approximately IELTS Band 7+) is required, reflecting the communication expectations for this role.
What This Role Is and Is Not
- This is an individual contributor role.
- Required at least 6 hours per day overlap with US business hours (EST).
- You'll own a portfolio of clients with minimal supervision.
- Quality and accuracy matter more than speed.
- You'll work within well-defined accounting processes while exercising sound professional judgment.
