Role Overview
ARI Simulation is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Naval Architect specializing in ship simulation and mathematical modelling. The incumbent will be responsible for developing, calibrating, and validating physics-based vessel models for real-time simulator environments. The role demands strong expertise in vessel hydrodynamics, maneuvering characteristics, propulsion systems, and mathematical modelling across a diverse range of marine platforms.
Key Responsibilities
High-Fidelity Vessel Modelling
- Develop and calibrate advanced six degrees-of-freedom (6-DoF) rigid-body dynamic models for a diverse fleet comprising:
- Naval vessels
- Dynamic Positioning (DP) ships
- Submarines
- Dredgers
- Pure Car and Truck Carriers (PCTCs)
- Heavy-lift transshippers
- Offshore structures and oil rigs
Hydrodynamics & Environmental Physics
- Model vessel hydrodynamic behaviour, hull resistance, sea-keeping characteristics, and aerodynamic windage coefficients.
- Utilize empirical formulations, model test data, CFD results, and sea-trial records to achieve accurate vessel responses.
- Simulate environmental effects including wind, current, and wave interactions.
Propulsion & Steering System Simulation
- Develop and fine-tune propulsion and steering models involving:
- Single and twin-screw arrangements
- Split-engine configurations
- Auxiliary machinery systems
- Azimuth thrusters
- Tunnel thrusters
- Multi-rudder configurations
Model Validation & Quality Assurance
- Develop and employ standard vessel testing utilities to validate simulator performance against:
- Actual sea-trial logs
- IMO maneuvering standards
- DNV, ABS, and other applicable maritime classification guidelines
- Ensure mathematical models deliver realistic vessel behaviour under varied operating conditions.
Technical Support & Issue Resolution
- Investigate and resolve complex mathematical and physical modelling issues raised during:
- Client acceptance testing
- Pilot training sessions
- Customer-specific engineering studies and verifications
- Collaborate closely with software developers, domain experts, and project teams to continuously enhance simulation fidelity.
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience
- 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in naval architecture, with significant exposure to:
- Vessel maneuvering dynamics
- Hydrodynamics
- Stability calculations and stability booklets
- Sea-trial data analysis and evaluation
- Mathematical modelling of marine systems
Pay: ₹500,000.00 - ₹1,500,000.00 per year
Benefits:
