Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated SAP BW/HANA ETL Operations Specialist with hands-on experience in SAP BW 7.5, BW/4HANA, and SAP HANA support operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and monitoring enterprise ETL processes, troubleshooting data load issues, supporting reporting and analytics platforms, and ensuring stable and optimized SAP BW/HANA operations.
The role requires strong expertise in ETL monitoring, incident management, performance tuning, housekeeping activities, downtime support, and month-end/year-end processing. Experience with Analysis for Office (AfO), BW Broadcasting, SAP Datasphere, and excellent stakeholder communication skills are essential.
Key Responsibilities
SAP BW/HANA Operations
- Support and maintain SAP BW 7.5, BW/4HANA, and SAP HANA environments.
- Manage traditional BW objects including InfoObjects, InfoCubes, MultiProviders, DSOs, and Composite Providers.
- Support HANA modeling objects such as Attribute, Analytic, and Calculation Views.
- Perform performance optimization of BW queries, transformations, and ETL processes.
- Work with ABAP/AMDP-based transformations and data models.
ETL Monitoring & Data Extraction
- Monitor and manage daily ETL processes through Process Chains and system monitoring tools (RSPCM, RSMON, SM37).
- Proactively identify and resolve data load, extraction, and transformation issues.
- Support SAP BW Extractors and troubleshoot extraction failures using ABAP debugging where necessary.
- Manage V3/LO extraction jobs, delta queues (RSA7), and setup table activities.
- Ensure timely and accurate data availability across reporting systems.
Incident & Service Management
- Manage ETL incidents and operational support tickets through ServiceNow.
- Investigate and resolve failed loads, stuck DTPs, delta inconsistencies, and transformation errors within defined SLAs.
- Participate in release validation, regression testing, and post-deployment support activities.
- Provide root-cause analysis and implement preventive measures for recurring issues.
Reporting & Analytics Support
- Support SAP Analysis for Office (AfO) reports, including validations, calculations, filters, and user assistance.
- Configure and troubleshoot BW Broadcasting schedules and report distribution processes.
- Monitor SAP Datasphere replication tasks, ETL pipelines, and data integration processes.
- Collaborate with business users to ensure reporting accuracy and consistency.
Housekeeping & Performance Optimization
- Execute housekeeping activities including PSA cleanup, request deletion, log management, and data retention compliance.
- Perform DSO compression, InfoCube optimization, and HANA memory monitoring.
- Ensure data quality, consistency, and system performance across reporting environments.
- Drive continuous improvements in query and process chain performance.
Downtime, Upgrade & Migration Support
- Support planned ECC and BW downtime activities, transport migrations, and system maintenance events.
- Execute pre- and post-maintenance validation checks.
- Assist in BW upgrade and migration projects, including object conversion and landscape transports.
- Support change management and deployment activities across Development, QA, and Production environments.
Month-End & Year-End Support
- Support Month-End Close (MEC), Year-End Close (YEC), and Year-End Processing (YEP) activities.
- Validate FI/CO/SD/MM data loads and reconciliation processes.
- Manage critical business reporting timelines and ad-hoc data load requests.
- Ensure successful completion of finance and operational reporting activities.
Stakeholder Communication
- Provide regular updates on load status, production issues, and service restoration progress.
- Coordinate closely with business users, SAP functional teams, infrastructure teams, and support teams.
- Effectively communicate risks, delays, and mitigation plans during critical business cycles.
