We are seeking an experienced and result-oriented Agriculture Consultant to provide strategic and technical guidance for agricultural development across our land holdings. The consultant will assess land, soil, climate, and water resources to recommend the most suitable crops, farming methods, and agricultural business opportunities.
The role also includes planning and implementing Greenhouse (Polyhouse/Net House) Farming, horticulture, plantation projects, and high-value commercial agriculture to maximize productivity and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
Land Assessment & Crop Planning
* Conduct detailed site inspections and evaluate agricultural land.
* Analyze soil quality, fertility, climate, rainfall patterns, and water availability.
* Recommend the most suitable crops based on location, season, soil characteristics, and market demand.
* Prepare seasonal and annual crop planning strategies.
* Identify opportunities for horticulture, plantation, medicinal plants, fruit orchards, floriculture, and commercial farming.
Greenhouse & Protected Cultivation
* Plan and develop Greenhouse, Polyhouse, and Net House farming projects.
* Recommend suitable greenhouse crops including vegetables, flowers, herbs, fruits, and exotic produce.
* Design greenhouse cultivation plans with proper irrigation, fertigation, ventilation, climate control, and crop management.
* Advise on hydroponics, vertical farming, controlled environment agriculture, and precision farming where applicable.
* Monitor greenhouse productivity and recommend improvements for maximum yield and profitability.
Technical Advisory
* Recommend irrigation systems including drip and sprinkler irrigation.
* Advise on fertilizers, fertigation schedules, soil nutrition, and organic farming practices.
* Develop pest and disease management strategies.
* Improve soil health and crop productivity through scientific agricultural practices.
* Recommend sustainable and environmentally responsible farming methods.
Commercial & Business Planning
* Conduct feasibility studies for agricultural projects.
* Evaluate commercial viability and return on investment (ROI) for different crops and farming models.
* Prepare cost estimates, revenue projections, and profitability analysis.
* Recommend value-added agriculture and agri-business opportunities.
* Advise on contract farming, food processing opportunities, and agricultural supply chains.
Government Liaison & Compliance
* Guide the organization in obtaining government approvals, licenses, and subsidies related to agriculture and greenhouse farming.
* Assist in availing central and state government agricultural schemes.
* Ensure compliance with applicable agricultural regulations and standards.
Reporting & Project Monitoring
* Prepare detailed technical reports and recommendations.
* Conduct regular site visits and monitor project progress.
* Provide periodic updates and presentations to the management team.
* Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and farm management teams during project execution.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture, Soil Science, Agricultural Engineering, or a related discipline.
* Professional certifications in Greenhouse Farming, Protected Cultivation, Hydroponics, or Precision Agriculture will be an added advantage.
Experience
* Minimum 8–15 years of relevant experience in agricultural consultancy or farm management.
* Proven experience in crop planning, land assessment, and commercial farming.
* Hands-on experience in Greenhouse, Polyhouse, and Protected Cultivation projects.
* Experience with large agricultural land parcels, industrial townships, integrated developments, or real estate projects is preferred.
