The Construction Manager – MEP is responsible for overseeing, coordinating, and managing all Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing works on construction projects. This role ensures that MEP activities are executed according to design, schedule, budget, safety standards, and quality requirements. The manager serves as the technical liaison between project teams, contractors, consultants, and clients.
Key Responsibilities1. Project Planning & Coordination
- Develop detailed MEP construction plans and schedules.
- Coordinate with architects, structural, and civil teams to ensure integration of MEP systems.
- Review MEP drawings, specifications, and design documents.
- Lead MEP coordination meetings between consultants and subcontractors.
2. Site Management
- Supervise daily MEP construction activities on-site.
- Ensure correct installation of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, ELV systems, and related infrastructure.
- Monitor progress and ensure adherence to construction schedules.
- Inspect materials and verify compliance with project standards.
3. Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Conduct regular inspections and quality audits for all MEP installations.
- Ensure compliance with design specifications, local codes, and industry standards.
- Review and approve method statements and shop drawings.
- Ensure testing and commissioning (T&C) of all MEP systems.
4. Budget & Procurement
- Assist in preparing BOQs, budgets, and cost estimates.
- Monitor MEP-related expenses and prevent cost overruns.
- Coordinate material procurement, vendor evaluation, and delivery schedules.
5. Safety Management
- Ensure all MEP activities follow HSE policies and safety regulations.
- Conduct toolbox talks and enforce safety guidelines among MEP contractors.
6. Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare weekly/monthly progress reports.
- Maintain logs for RFI, NCR, material approvals, and site inspections.
- Ensure proper documentation for testing, commissioning, and handover.
7. Stakeholder Communication
- Liaise with clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
- Resolve technical issues and site conflicts promptly.
- Attend coordination and progress review meetings.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical
- 8+ years of experience in MEP construction management (or as required).
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical distribution, plumbing, drainage, fire systems, and ELV.
- Experience with high-rise buildings, commercial, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
- Proficient with AutoCAD, BIM/Revit (preferred), MS Project/Primavera.
- Strong leadership, communication, and coordination skills.
