About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and creative Principal Designer to lead our design team and oversee residential and commercial interior design projects from concept to completion. The ideal candidate will combine exceptional design skills with strong leadership, project management, and client relationship abilities to deliver innovative, functional, and high-quality interior spaces.
The Principal Designer will be responsible for driving design excellence, mentoring junior designers, ensuring timely project delivery, and maintaining the company's quality standards while achieving client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities Design Leadership
- Lead the design team across multiple interior design projects.
- Develop creative design concepts aligned with client requirements, budgets, and timelines.
- Establish and maintain the company's design standards and best practices.
- Review and approve all design proposals before client presentations.
- Stay updated on emerging design trends, materials, technologies, and sustainability practices.
Client Management
- Conduct client meetings to understand project requirements and expectations.
- Present design concepts, mood boards, material selections, and 3D visualizations.
- Build long-term relationships with clients through excellent communication and service.
- Resolve client concerns while maintaining project objectives and quality standards.
Project Management
- Oversee projects from initial consultation through final handover.
- Coordinate with architects, contractors, vendors, consultants, and site teams.
- Ensure projects are completed within scope, budget, and schedule.
- Monitor site progress and conduct regular quality inspections.
- Identify project risks and implement effective solutions.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and inspire interior designers, 3D visualizers, and design associates.
- Allocate work based on project priorities and team capabilities.
- Conduct regular design reviews and performance evaluations.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative work culture.
Technical Responsibilities
- Prepare and review:
- Space planning
- Concept designs

- Material specifications
- Furniture layouts
- Working drawings
- BOQs (Bill of Quantities)
- Design documentation
- Ensure compliance with applicable building codes and industry standards.
Vendor & Procurement Coordination
- Evaluate and finalize materials, finishes, furniture, lighting, and accessories.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for quotations and product approvals.
- Support procurement activities while maintaining quality and budget targets.
Business Development Support
- Participate in project pitches and client presentations.
- Assist in preparing design proposals and commercial presentations.
- Contribute to portfolio development and marketing initiatives by documenting completed projects.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.
- 8–12+ years of professional experience in interior design.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience leading design teams.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating residential and/or commercial projects.
- Experience managing turnkey interior projects is preferred.
