Job Purpose
To perform accurate and reliable chemical analysis of food, spices, beverages, raw materials, and processed food products in accordance with approved standard methods, laboratory SOPs, customer specifications, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Key Roles & Responsibilities1. Food Sample Analysis
- Receive, identify, prepare, and analyze food samples as per laboratory procedures.
- Perform routine chemical analysis of food and food products.
- Analyze parameters such as:
- Moisture
- Ash
- Protein
- Fat
- Crude Fibre
- Carbohydrates
- pH
- Acidity
- Salt/Chloride
- Sugar
- TSS
- Peroxide Value
- Free Fatty Acids (FFA)
- Trans Fat
- Food additives and preservatives
- Vitamins and minerals
- Heavy metals
- Adulterants and contaminants
2. Analytical Instrument Handling
Operate, maintain, and perform routine checks of laboratory instruments such as:
- UV-Visible Spectrophotometer
- HPLC
- GC/GC-MS
- AAS / ICP-OES / ICP-MS
- Kjeldahl apparatus
- Soxhlet apparatus
- Moisture Analyzer
- pH Meter
- Analytical Balance
3. Standard Methods & SOP Compliance
- Perform testing according to approved laboratory SOPs and standard methods.
- Follow applicable FSSAI, BIS/IS, AOAC, ISO, Codex and customer-specific methods.
- Ensure current versions of test methods are followed.
- Participate in method verification and validation activities.
4. Quality Control
- Perform blank, duplicate, spike, recovery, and control-sample analysis as applicable.
- Use appropriate Reference Materials/Certified Reference Materials (RM/CRM).
- Monitor analytical quality-control results.
- Investigate abnormal, doubtful, or out-of-specification results.
- Ensure accuracy, precision, and traceability of analytical results.
5. Laboratory Documentation
- Maintain sample registers and analytical worksheets.
- Record raw data and calculations accurately.
- Maintain instrument usage, calibration, and maintenance records.
- Prepare test results and assist in preparation of Test Reports/Certificates of Analysis (COA).
- Maintain records as required under ISO/IEC 17025:2017.
6. Equipment & Reagent Management
- Perform routine equipment performance checks.
- Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Prepare and standardize reagents where applicable.
- Maintain reagent and chemical records.
- Check expiry dates and storage conditions of reagents and standards.
7. Safety Responsibilities
- Follow laboratory safety procedures.
- Use appropriate PPE during chemical analysis.
- Handle acids, solvents, chemicals, and reference materials safely.
- Ensure proper chemical waste disposal.
8. Audit & Accreditation Support
- Assist in internal audits and external assessments.
- Provide analytical records and technical documents during audits.
- Implement corrective actions related to laboratory testing.
- Support continuous improvement of laboratory activities.
9. Reporting & Coordination
- Coordinate with the Technical Manager, Quality Manager, Microbiology Team, Sampling Team, and Laboratory Management.
- Communicate analytical issues and unusual results promptly.
- Provide technical information to customers when required.
Qualification
Minimum: B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Chemistry, Food Chemistry, Food Technology, Biochemistry, or a relevant discipline.
Experience
- Experienced: 1–5 years of experience in food testing, chemical analysis, or an analytical laboratory preferred.
Required Skills
- Good knowledge of food chemical analysis.
- Knowledge of FSSAI/BIS/AOAC/ISO test methods.
- Good laboratory documentation skills.
- Basic knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025:2017.
- Analytical calculation and result interpretation.
- Instrument handling and troubleshooting.
- Good laboratory safety practices.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a laboratory team.

Pay: ₹12,000.00 - ₹15,000.00 per month
