About Vama Projects
Vama Projects is an Ahmedabad-based creative design studio specialising in museum development, immersive storytelling and experiential technologies. Over the past three decades, we have brought together writers, researchers, curators, designers, filmmakers, architects, artists and technologists to transform ideas, history and knowledge into memorable visitor experiences. Our work includes museums, interpretation centres, immersive theatres, multimedia shows, interactive installations, films and technology-enabled exhibitions across India.
About the Role
We are looking for a passionate Scriptwriter and Content Researcher who believes that history, culture, science and human stories deserve to be told with imagination.
This is not a conventional desk-writing role. Your words will become part of a museum wall, an immersive film, a projection-mapping show, an audio experience, an interactive exhibit, a guide robot or a dramatic historical recreation.
You will research diverse subjects, identify compelling narratives and convert complex information into clear, accurate and emotionally engaging stories for audiences of different ages and backgrounds.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed research using books, archives, academic publications, government records, credible digital sources, interviews and other reference material.
- Develop strong narrative structures for museums, galleries and interpretation centres.
- Write scripts for museum films, documentaries, immersive experiences, projection-mapping shows, sound-and-light shows, audio guides and interactive installations.
- Create gallery content, exhibit text, object labels, captions, timelines, character narratives and visitor-facing information.
- Translate large volumes of research into concise, accessible and engaging content.
- Identify human stories, emotional moments and lesser-known facts that can strengthen a museum narrative.
- Fact-check content and maintain clear records of references, citations and source material.
- Work closely with curators, subject experts, historians, designers, filmmakers, visualisers and technology teams.
- Adapt scripts according to duration, format, audience, spatial limitations and creative requirements.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions, project presentations, interviews, field visits and site documentation when required.
- Revise content based on feedback from clients, domain experts and internal creative teams.
- Manage multiple assignments while maintaining accuracy, originality and consistency.
What We Are Looking For
- Strong creative writing and storytelling abilities.
- A genuine interest in museums, history, heritage, culture, science, personalities and social narratives.
- Excellent research, comprehension and fact-checking skills.
- Ability to understand complex subjects and communicate them in a simple, engaging manner.
- Strong command of written and spoken English & Hindi.
- Ability to write with clarity, imagination, emotional depth and historical sensitivity.
- Comfort working collaboratively in a multidisciplinary creative studio.
- Openness to feedback and the ability to rewrite without losing the strength of the narrative.
- Attention to detail, curiosity and a disciplined approach to deadlines.
- Original thinking and a desire to go beyond surface-level internet research.
Preferred Background
Candidates may come from fields such as:
- Literature or Creative Writing
- History, Archaeology or Heritage Studies
- Journalism or Mass Communication
- Film, Theatre or Screenwriting
- Political Science, Sociology or Anthropology
- Museum Studies or Cultural Studies
- Science Communication
- Advertising, Media or Publishing
A particular degree is not mandatory. The quality of your thinking, research and writing will matter more than your academic title.
Professional experience in scriptwriting, museum content, documentaries, publishing, journalism, advertising or long-form research will be valuable. Exceptional freshers with a strong portfolio and a serious passion for writing are also encouraged to apply.
Knowledge of Hindi and/or Gujarati will be an added advantage.
Why Join Us?
At Vama, your writing will not remain confined to a document. It will be translated into physical spaces, films, sculptures, interactives, soundscapes and immersive environments experienced by thousands of visitors.
You will have the opportunity to:
- Work on culturally and nationally significant projects.
- Explore a wide variety of subjects and stories.
- Collaborate with historians, curators, artists, filmmakers, designers and technologists.
- See your ideas move from research and script to an actual museum experience.
- Develop your skills in exhibition writing, visual storytelling and experience design.
- Become part of an energetic team that treats storytelling as the foundation of every project.
