Job Summary
The Lab Technician will be responsible for performing laboratory tests and procedures accurately and efficiently, supporting diagnosis and treatment of patients under the guidance of the Lab In-Charge
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, label, and process patient samples (blood, urine, body fluids, etc.) following proper protocols
- Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments
- Ensure accurate recording and reporting of test results within specified turnaround times
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality control protocols to ensure test accuracy
- Maintain adequate stock of lab reagents, consumables, and supplies
- Adhere to biosafety and infection control practices while handling samples and waste disposal
- Coordinate with doctors and nursing staff for urgent/critical test results
- Maintain cleanliness and proper functioning of the laboratory
- Assist in audits, NABL/accreditation compliance, and documentation as required
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Lab Technician in a hospital or diagnostic lab setting
- Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT) or Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (BMLT/MLT)
- Sound knowledge of laboratory procedures, equipment handling, and safety protocols
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in test performance and documentation
- Ability to work in shifts
- Good communication and teamwork skills
