A Network Hardware Engineer bridges the gap between software networking and physical computer infrastructure. They design, build, test, and maintain the physical network components—such as routers, switches, servers, and firewalls—that keep organizations securely and efficiently connected.
Key Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Design: Architect scalable and high-performance physical networks (LAN, WAN, and WLAN) to meet organizational needs.
- Hardware Management: Install, configure, and upgrade physical networking devices including switches, routers, load balancers, and wireless access points.
- Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Diagnose hardware failures, replace defective components, and ensure network downtime is minimized.
- Network Security Implementation: Deploy and manage hardware-based firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion prevention systems to protect corporate data.
- Performance Optimization: Monitor network traffic, evaluate bandwidth usage, and tweak hardware settings for maximum speed and reliability.
- Documentation & Vendor Management: Maintain detailed network topology diagrams, track hardware lifecycles, and collaborate with external vendors for procurement and technical support
