Job Description (JD) -
Role purpose
Manage end-to-end transportation and logistics for civil/construction sites, ensuring vehicles, drivers, materials, and movement schedules support project execution safely, legally, and cost-effectively.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and control daily transport requirements for sites (manpower pickup-drop, material movement, equipment shifting)
- Allocate and track company/hired vehicles (tippers, trucks, pickups, cranes, etc.) based on site priority
- Coordinate with site engineers, stores, vendors, and subcontractors for dispatch and delivery schedules
- Maintain vehicle documents and compliance (RC, insurance, fitness, permits, PUC, driver licenses)
- Monitor fuel usage, mileage, trip sheets, toll/parking, and control wastage or misuse
- Manage drivers (attendance, shifts, discipline), route planning, and emergency vehicle needs
- Handle vendor negotiation for hired vehicles and ensure competitive rates and timely billing
- Maintain transport records (logbook, trip register, fuel register, service records) and submit reports
- Coordinate vehicle maintenance schedules, breakdown handling, and service follow-ups
- Ensure safety practices: speed limits, site entry rules, PPE compliance, and incident reporting
- Support audits and maintain documentation for accounts/operations verification
