To provide continuous medical care, monitors critically ill patients, and manage immediate medical emergencies under the supervision of senior intensivists and consultants. They should act as the primary on-site medical link between nursing staff, patients, and treating consultants. Key Qualifications
- Education: MBBS degree with a valid medical council registration.
- Preferred Add-ons: Diploma or certification in Critical Care Medicine (DCCM) or Emergency Life Support training (BLS/ACLS).
- Experience: 3 to5 years of clinical experience, specifically within an ICU or emergency department setup.
Core Responsibilities
- Patient Monitoring: Track vital signs, intake-output charts, and hemodynamic parameters continuously to spot early signs of clinical deterioration.
- Emergency Response: Initiate immediate resuscitation, manage code blue/cardiac emergencies, and stabilize unstable patients.
- Clinical Procedures: Perform or assist in emergency procedures like endotracheal intubation, central venous line insertion, arterial line placement, and catheterization.
- Consultant Coordination: Accompany senior consultants during rounds, execute treatment plans, and update consultants regularly on critical patient shifts.
- Documentation: Record chronological progress notes, medication orders, investigation results, and shift handovers with high precision.
- Family Communication: Update patient relatives regarding clinical changes, prognosis, and treatment roadmaps in a compassionate manner.
