UK Accountant

About the Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented UK Accountant with experience in UK accounting, bookkeeping, VAT, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience working with UK clients and a strong understanding of HMRC compliance, VAT regulations, payroll, and year-end accounts. Experience with Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting activities for UK clients.
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records.
- Perform bank, supplier, and account reconciliations.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns in compliance with HMRC regulations.
- Assist with payroll processing and related compliance requirements.
- Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
- Support the preparation of year-end accounts and tax computations.
- Handle accounts payable and receivable functions.
- Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards and regulations.
- Coordinate with clients to resolve accounting queries and provide financial information.
- Work with accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, and MS Excel.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
- 1–4 years of experience in UK Accounting.
- Good understanding of UK bookkeeping, VAT, payroll, and taxation.
- Proficiency in Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, and MS Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and client-handling abilities.
- ACCA/ACA/CIMA (Qualified, Part-Qualified, or Pursuing) will be an added advantage.
Preferred Experience
- Experience working with UK accounting firms or UK-based clients.
- Knowledge of HMRC compliance and Making Tax Digital (MTD).
- Exposure to finalization of accounts and management reporting.
