The Cashier is responsible for handling customer billing, cash and digital transactions, maintaining billing accuracy, and ensuring a smooth checkout experience. The role requires excellent customer service skills, attention to detail, and adherence to company policies regarding cash management and financial controls.
Key ResponsibilitiesA. Customer Service & Billing
- Welcome customers courteously and professionally.
- Generate accurate bills using the POS system.
- Process customer orders and ensure correct billing.
- Assist customers with payment-related queries.
- Inform guests about ongoing offers, promotions, and loyalty programs.
- Ensure a quick and efficient checkout experience.
B. Cash & Payment Management
- Accept and process payments through cash, UPI, cards, wallets, and other approved payment modes.
- Verify cash received and return the correct balance to customers.
- Maintain accuracy in all financial transactions.
- Ensure proper documentation of void bills, refunds, and discounts as per company policy.
- Safeguard cash, billing stationery, and payment devices.
C. POS Operations
- Operate the Point-of-Sale (POS) system efficiently.
- Ensure all menu items and prices are correctly reflected in the billing system.
- Report POS errors or technical issues immediately to the supervisor.
- Generate required sales and transaction reports.
D. Cash Reconciliation & Reporting
- Reconcile cash, digital payments, and sales at the end of each shift.
- Prepare daily cash summaries and settlement reports.
- Submit cash and supporting documents to authorised personnel as per SOP.
- Report discrepancies immediately to the Floor Manager or Store Manager.
E. Compliance & Controls
- Follow company SOPs related to billing, cash handling, and financial controls.
- Ensure confidentiality of financial information.
- Comply with audit requirements and documentation standards.
- Adhere to company policies regarding discounts, complimentary items, and cancellations.
F. Coordination
- Coordinate effectively with stewards, kitchen staff, and managers to ensure order accuracy.
- Support front-of-house operations during peak business hours.
- Assist in managing customer queues and maintaining service efficiency.
Customer Service
- Customer Complaint Resolution related to billing.
- Checkout Processing Time.
- Customer Satisfaction Score (where applicable).
