Job Title: Virtualization Engineer (L2)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Virtualization Engineer to manage and optimize virtual infrastructure
across our organization. The role involves provisioning, configuring, and maintaining virtual
machines, ensuring high availability, security, and compliance while driving automation and
efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Virtual Machine Provisioning & Configuration:
o Deploy and configure VMs based on business requirements.
o Allocate CPU, memory, storage, and network resources effectively.
- Hypervisor Management:
o Administer virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware vSphere, Hyper-V).
o Perform updates and patching of hypervisors regularly.
- Performance Monitoring & Optimization:
o Monitor VM performance and resource utilization.
o Optimize workloads to prevent over-provisioning or bottlenecks.
- Backup & Disaster Recovery:
o Implement and manage VM backup strategies.
o Ensure disaster recovery plans are tested and operational.
- Security & Compliance:
o Apply security hardening for VMs and hypervisors.
o Ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
- Troubleshooting & Incident Management:
o Diagnose and resolve VM-related issues promptly.
o Collaborate with support teams for root cause analysis.
- Capacity Planning:
o Forecast resource requirements for future workloads.
o Plan infrastructure scaling to meet business growth.
- Automation & Scripting:
o Develop scripts for VM deployment and maintenance tasks.
o Coordinate to implement automation tools (e.g., PowerCLI, Ansible) for
efficiency.
- Documentation:
o Maintain detailed documentation for VM configurations, processes, and
policies.
o Update Knowledge Base articles for common issues and solutions.
- Collaboration:
o Work with network, storage, and application teams for seamless integration.
o Coordinate with vendors for support and upgrades.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong experience with virtualization platforms (VMware vSphere, Hyper-V).
- Proficiency in scripting and automation tools (PowerCLI, Ansible).
- Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery strategies.
- Familiarity with security hardening and compliance standards.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Experience:
- Hands-on experience in capacity planning and performance optimization.
- Exposure to cloud-based virtualization environments.
- Certifications such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or Microsoft Certified:
Azure Administrator is a plus.
