About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Business Development Associate to expand our Intellectual Property (IP) services portfolio across the United States market. The ideal candidate will be responsible for identifying, engaging, and nurturing relationships with patent attorneys, law firms, corporations, R&D organizations, technology companies, and innovation-focused businesses.
The role requires a strong understanding of patent-related services, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build long-term relationships with international clients. The candidate will actively promote and generate business opportunities for Patent Search, Patent Drafting, Patent Prosecution Support, Prior Art Search, Freedom-to-Operate (FTO) Analysis, Patentability Search, Landscape Analysis, and related IP services.
Key ResponsibilitiesBusiness Development & Lead Generation
- Identify and engage prospective clients across the United States through LinkedIn, email campaigns, networking, referrals, and other outreach channels.
- Develop and execute strategic business development initiatives to generate qualified leads and sales opportunities.
- Build and maintain relationships with patent attorneys, patent agents, IP law firms, innovation consultants, and corporate IP departments.
- Conduct market research to identify emerging opportunities within the intellectual property ecosystem.
Client Engagement & Sales
- Present and pitch IP services, including:
- Patentability Searches
- Prior Art Searches
- Freedom-to-Operate (FTO) Searches
- Invalidity Searches
- Patent Landscape Analysis
- Patent Drafting
- Patent Prosecution Support
- Patent Analytics and Competitive Intelligence
- Understand client requirements and coordinate with technical and legal teams to develop customized proposals.
- Manage the complete sales cycle from prospecting and lead qualification to proposal submission and deal closure.
- Prepare compelling presentations, capability statements, and service proposals.
Relationship Management
- Develop long-term relationships with international associates, patent law firms, and corporate clients.
- Ensure high client satisfaction through proactive communication and timely follow-ups.
- Maintain regular engagement with existing clients to identify repeat business and cross-selling opportunities.
CRM & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of client interactions, opportunities, and sales activities in CRM systems.
- Track business development metrics, sales pipeline, and revenue targets.
- Prepare periodic reports on lead generation activities, conversion rates, and business growth initiatives.
Required Qualifications/Education
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering, Law, Technology, or a related field.
Experience
- 2–6 years of experience in Business Development, International Sales, B2B Sales, Legal Services Sales, or Intellectual Property Services.
- Prior experience working with US-based clients is highly preferred.
- Experience selling patent, legal, technical, engineering, or consulting services will be an added advantage.
Desired Skills
- Strong understanding of Intellectual Property and Patent Lifecycle processes.

- Proven ability to build relationships with international clients.
- Experience with LinkedIn outreach, email marketing, and consultative selling.
- Strong negotiation and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and achieve revenue targets.
- Familiarity with CRM tools such as HubSpot, Salesforce, Zoho CRM, or similar platforms.
- Strong research and prospecting capabilities.
Preferred Candidate Profile
- Experience working with patent law firms, IP consulting firms, LPOs, KPOs, or legal service providers.
- Understanding of US patent filing and prosecution processes.
- Existing network within the intellectual property ecosystem is a strong plus.
- Self-driven, target-oriented, and capable of managing multiple client relationships simultaneously.
