A Food and Beverage (F&B) Assistant ensures exceptional guest service by taking orders, serving food and beverages, and maintaining clean dining areas in restaurants, hotels, or events. They handle customer inquiries, prepare service stations, and process payments while adhering to hygiene standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Service & Guest Care: Greeting guests, taking accurate orders, providing menu recommendations, and serving food/drinks promptly.
- Cleanliness & Maintenance: Clearing, cleaning, and sanitizing tables, chairs, and service areas to maintain high hygiene standards.
- Back of House Support: Assisting kitchen staff, stocking stations, and preparing condiments, cutlery, and linens.
- Operational Duties: Managing cash/card transactions, operating the Point of Sale (POS) system, and preparing bills.
- Event Support: Setting up and dismantling tables, chairs, and buffet stations for banquets and events.
Key Requirements & Skills
- Customer Service: Strong communication and interpersonal skills to handle guest complaints professionally.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and carry heavy trays.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and evenings.
- Experience: Previous hospitality or customer service experience is often preferred.
- Hygiene Knowledge: Understanding of food safety regulations.
Common Qualifications
- Minimum education (often 10th grade or higher, depending on the employer).
- Food safety certification (e.g., Food Handler's Card).
