Eligibility Criteria:
- Master's Degree (or higher postgraduate qualification) in Immunohematology, Transfusion Medicine, Hematology, Medical Laboratory Sciences, or another closely related field from a recognized institution.
- Bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory science/medical laboratory technology (or an equivalent recognized qualification)
Responsibilities of the job:
- Lead and oversee all activities related to thalassemia testing, hematology, and Central Blood Bank laboratory services.
- Supervise laboratory operations, ensuring accurate sample processing, analysis, reporting, and compliance with quality standards.
- Manage, train, develop, supervise, and evaluate laboratory and blood bank staff to maintain high performance and competency.
- Plan, implement, and monitor blood bank and laboratory programs, incorporating new technologies and continuous quality improvement.
- Oversee procurement, maintenance, calibration, and inventory management of laboratory equipment, reagents, and consumables.
- Develop, review, and standardize laboratory policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), protocols, and documentation.
- Plan and conduct staff training, stakeholder engagement, and public awareness programs on thalassemia and blood safety providing technical leadership in immunohematology, hematology, transfusion medicine and Thalassemia services.
- Coordinate genetic counseling services for thalassemia carriers and at-risk couples.
- Provide technical advice, regulatory oversight, and support for blood banks, including policy development and compliance monitoring.
- Ensure the safe collection, processing, storage, and distribution of blood and blood products while managing incident reporting, documentation, and committee submissions.
- Organize meetings, maintain records, and provide technical support to senior management in strategic decision-making related to blood bank and laboratory services.
- Ensure Quality and Compliance by implementing quality assurance programs, developing SOPs, managing incidents and maintaining regulatory standards
- By engaging in filed work assigned by the Maldivian Blood Services
