Job Summary
We are looking for a Production Engineer with 1–2 years of experience in electrical manufacturing, preferably in Current Transformer (CT), Potential Transformer (PT/VT), and Instrument Transformer manufacturing.
The candidate will be responsible for planning and monitoring production activities, ensuring production targets are achieved, maintaining product quality, coordinating with various departments, and improving manufacturing efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and monitor daily production activities as per production plans and delivery requirements.
- Supervise the manufacturing process of CT, PT/VT, and Instrument Transformers.
- Ensure production is carried out as per approved drawings, specifications, work instructions, and quality standards.
- Coordinate with Design, Purchase, Stores, Quality, Testing, Maintenance, and Dispatch departments for smooth production.
- Monitor manpower, machines, materials, and production resources effectively.
- Ensure availability of required raw materials, components, tools, and consumables before starting production.
- Monitor production processes such as:
- Core preparation and assembly
- Winding activities
- Insulation and insulation assembly
- Coil assembly
- Lead connections and termination
- Core mounting
- Encapsulation / casting, where applicable
- Final assembly
- Identification, marking, and packing
- Check production output against daily and monthly targets.
- Monitor WIP (Work in Progress) and minimize production bottlenecks.
- Identify production issues and coordinate with concerned departments for timely corrective action.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of cores, coils, insulation materials, and finished products.
- Maintain production records, process sheets, job cards, and daily production reports.
- Monitor rejection, rework, wastage, and process losses and take corrective action.
- Coordinate with the Testing/Quality team to resolve testing failures and production-related defects.
- Support Root Cause Analysis (RCA), CAPA, and continuous improvement activities.
- Ensure adherence to approved manufacturing processes and quality procedures.
- Implement 5S, workplace organization, and safe working practices on the production floor.
- Ensure workers follow proper SOPs, safety procedures, and quality requirements.
- Assist in improving productivity, reducing cycle time, and optimizing manpower and material utilization.
- Support new product development and trial production activities when required.
- Prepare daily/weekly production reports and communicate production status to management.
Technical Knowledge
- Basic knowledge of CT, PT/VT, and Instrument Transformer manufacturing processes.
- Understanding of transformer components such as:
- Magnetic cores
- Copper/aluminium windings
- Insulation materials
- Terminals and leads
- Bushings
- Enclosures
- Epoxy/resin, where applicable
- Ability to read and understand electrical drawings, BOMs, specifications, and manufacturing documents.
- Basic understanding of CT ratio, accuracy class, burden, insulation level, and other product specifications.
- Knowledge of basic electrical testing and quality requirements.
- Familiarity with IS/IEC standards related to CT/PT and Instrument Transformers will be an advantage.
- Basic knowledge of ERP/MIS systems and MS Excel.
Qualification & Experience
- B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering.
- 1–2 years of experience in production/manufacturing.
- Experience in CT/PT, Instrument Transformer, Transformer, Switchgear, or electrical equipment manufacturing will be preferred.
- Candidates with strong practical knowledge and relevant electrical manufacturing experience will be considered.
