We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Department (HOD) – Science & English to lead the both the Department in our CBSE International School. The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving academic excellence, mentoring faculty, developing curriculum, and ensuring high-quality teaching and learning outcomes for students from Grades V – X.
Key Responsibilities
Academic Leadership
- Lead and manage the English Department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
- Develop, review, and implement the CBSE English curriculum in line with the school's academic vision.
- Ensure effective lesson planning, curriculum mapping, and timely completion of the syllabus.
- Monitor teaching quality through classroom observations and constructive feedback.
Faculty Management
- Mentor, coach, and evaluate English teachers to enhance instructional effectiveness.
- Conduct regular departmental meetings and facilitate professional development sessions.
- Support teacher recruitment, onboarding, and performance appraisal.
Student Achievement
- Monitor student academic performance and implement strategies to improve learning outcomes.
- Guide students in board examination preparation and competitive academic activities.
- Encourage participation in literary clubs, debates, creative writing, public speaking, MUNs, and other language enrichment programs.
Assessment & Quality Assurance
- Design and oversee assessments, examinations, and evaluation processes as per CBSE guidelines.
- Analyze academic data and implement improvement plans.
- Ensure compliance with CBSE norms, school policies, and academic quality standards.
Parent & School Collaboration
- Build strong relationships with parents through regular communication regarding student progress.
- Collaborate with the Principal, Academic Coordinator, and other department heads on interdisciplinary initiatives.
- Represent the English Department in academic planning and school events.
Innovation & Technology
- Integrate innovative teaching methodologies and digital learning tools into classroom instruction.
- Promote experiential learning, critical thinking, and communication skills among students.
Qualifications
- Master's Degree (M.A.) in English.
- B.Ed. is mandatory.
- Additional certifications in educational leadership or curriculum development are an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 8–10 years of teaching experience in CBSE schools.
- At least 3 years of experience in a leadership role such as HOD, English Coordinator, or Academic Coordinator.
- Experience teaching Senior Secondary (Grades XI & XII) is preferred.
- Exposure to international teaching practices or Cambridge/IB curriculum is an added advantage.
