We are looking for an IT Generalist who will be responsible for keeping our technology environment running smoothly while helping us build stronger IT systems, processes, security practices, and governance as we scale.
This is a hands-on role with broad responsibility across IT support, identity and access management, endpoint management, SaaS administration, IT security, networking, infrastructure, and IT governance.
About the Role
As our first dedicated IT hire, you will take ownership of the day-to-day IT environment at Ecommercewala. You will ensure employees have the right access, devices, applications, and support they need to work effectively and securely.
You will work closely with the CTO and various business teams to improve our IT infrastructure, implement better processes, strengthen security, and establish scalable IT practices.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver who is comfortable working across multiple areas of IT, can independently troubleshoot issues, communicates well with non-technical employees, and enjoys building processes from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities
Identity & Access Management
- Manage employee accounts, groups, and permissions across email, SSO, and core business applications.
- Handle complete user lifecycle management including onboarding, role changes, and offboarding.
- Provision and deprovision user access based on role and business requirements.
- Implement and maintain security practices such as MFA and least-privilege access.
- Conduct periodic access reviews and remove unnecessary or outdated permissions.
- Troubleshoot login, authentication, password, and access-related issues.
SaaS & Application Management
- Administer the company's SaaS applications and business tools.
- Maintain an inventory of applications, licenses, users, owners, and renewal dates.
- Manage software licenses and ensure appropriate utilization.
- Coordinate with vendors for renewals, support, and technical issues.
- Conduct periodic reviews of application access and user licenses.
- Identify opportunities to consolidate tools, improve utilization, and reduce unnecessary costs.
Endpoint & Device Management
- Set up, configure, image, deploy, and maintain company laptops and other IT devices.
- Manage Windows and macOS endpoints.
- Implement device management, security configurations, and software updates.
- Ensure laptops and endpoints are patched and protected.
- Troubleshoot hardware, operating system, software, and peripheral issues.
- Maintain standard configurations and IT setup procedures for new employees.
IT Asset Management
- Manage the complete lifecycle of IT assets.
- Procure laptops, peripherals, networking equipment, and other IT hardware.
- Maintain an accurate IT asset register with ownership, serial numbers, purchase details, and status.
- Tag, store, issue, retrieve, and dispose of IT assets appropriately.
- Maintain records for employee-issued devices and equipment.
- Coordinate replacement and repair of damaged or obsolete equipment.
Helpdesk & Employee Support
- Provide first-line IT support to employees.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, network, account, and application issues.
- Respond to employee IT requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain and manage the IT helpdesk and track open issues.
- Escalate complex issues to vendors or specialized technical teams when required.
- Educate employees on basic IT, security, and technology best practices.
IT Security & Data Protection
- Implement and maintain basic IT security controls across the organization.
- Manage MFA, endpoint protection, password policies, and access controls.
- Ensure devices are appropriately secured and protected.
- Support backup and data-protection practices.
- Monitor and address basic security risks and vulnerabilities.
- Assist with security incident identification, documentation, and escalation.
- Promote security awareness and responsible technology usage across the organization.
Network & Infrastructure
- Support the company's office network and IT infrastructure.
- Configure and troubleshoot Wi-Fi, switches, routers, VPN, and other network equipment.
- Troubleshoot connectivity, DNS, DHCP, and basic TCP/IP issues.
- Coordinate with internet service providers and external IT vendors when required.
- Maintain documentation of network infrastructure and configurations.
- Help improve network reliability, performance, and security.
IT Policies & Documentation
- Draft, maintain, and implement IT policies and procedures.
- Maintain documentation for onboarding, offboarding, access management, device setup, and troubleshooting.
- Develop IT runbooks and standard operating procedures.
- Establish and maintain IT asset, access, and application records.
- Ensure IT processes are documented and consistently followed.
IT Governance & Compliance
- Help Ecommercewala build stronger IT governance and compliance practices.
- Establish appropriate processes for access reviews, asset management, vendor management, and security.
- Support internal audits and compliance requirements as needed.
- Maintain appropriate documentation and evidence for IT controls.
- Identify gaps in current IT practices and recommend improvements.
- Work with the CTO to develop a scalable IT roadmap as the organization grows.
Required Skills
- 3–5 years of experience across IT support, endpoint management, systems administration, and identity/access administration.
- Strong understanding of Identity & Access Management, including user lifecycle, SSO, MFA, and least-privilege access.
- Hands-on experience managing Windows and macOS devices.
- Experience with endpoint management, MDM, imaging, patching, and troubleshooting.
- Working knowledge of Google Workspace and/or Microsoft 365 administration.
- Good understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and Wi-Fi.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Good understanding of basic IT security and data-protection practices.
- Strong helpdesk and customer-service skills.
- Ability to communicate technical issues clearly to non-technical employees.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to documentation.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple IT requirements.
Preferred Skills
- Experience managing SSO and identity platforms such as Okta, Microsoft Entra ID, or Google Workspace.
- Experience with MDM platforms such as Microsoft Intune, Jamf, or similar tools.
- Familiarity with endpoint security and EDR solutions.
- Experience with IT asset management systems.
- Basic scripting knowledge in PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
- Familiarity with ITIL principles and service management.
- Experience establishing IT processes and policies in a growing organization.
- Exposure to security frameworks, governance, or compliance is an advantage.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Equivalent hands-on IT experience will also be considered.

- Microsoft 365 / Microsoft Certified certifications
- Google Workspace Administration certification
- ITIL Foundation
Certifications are preferred but are not mandatory where the candidate demonstrates strong practical experience.

Pay: ₹360,000.00 - ₹720,000.00 per year
