Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Civil Engineer to join our team (Internal hiring) in Ashok Nagar, Chennai as a Quantity Surveyor. In this role, you will be responsible for estimation, costing, preparation of Bills of Quantities (BOQs), rate analysis, and contractor bill verification.
Candidates must possess strong analytical capabilities and a working knowledge of Tamil Nadu Public Works Department (TN PWD) Schedule of Rates (SOR) and Indian Standard methods of measurement (IS 1200).
Key Responsibilities
- Quantity Take-Off & Estimation: Extract exact quantities of materials (concrete, steel, brickwork, finishes, earthwork) from 2D architectural and structural drawings.
- BOQ Preparation: Draft accurate Bills of Quantities (BOQ) aligned with TN PWD Schedule of Rates (SOR) and market rates for government/private construction tenders.
- Rate Analysis: Conduct detailed rate analysis for civil items considering material specifications, labor output norms, plant/equipment charges, and GST.
- Billing & Verification: Prepare, cross-verify, and certify Running Account (RA) bills, final bills, and contractor payments against actual site measurements.
- Cost Control & Reconciliation: Track ongoing material consumption against estimated quantities to perform steel, cement, and concrete reconciliation reports.
- Site Measurement: Perform periodic site visits across Chennai to check joint measurements, record site order books, and resolve quantity variations.
Key Requirements & Technical Skills
- Education: B.E. in Civil Engineering or M.E. in Civil Engineering.
- Experience: 0 to 3 years in quantity surveying, estimation, or civil site engineering.
- Standards Awareness: Sound understanding of TN Government Standards (TN PWD SOR), Public Works Department guidelines, and IS 1200 measurement standards.
- Software Tools:
- MS Excel (Advanced formulas, VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables for estimation sheets)
- AutoCAD (Basic to intermediate drafting & quantity extraction)
- Costing / ERP software exposure (e.g., PlanSwift, MSP) is a plus.
- Core Skills: High numerical accuracy, cost management mindset, drawing interpretation skills, and resilience under tight estimation deadlines.

- Remuneration: Competitive salary structured around engineering qualifications, drafting/estimation test performance, and relevant experience.
Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
