We are looking for a senior PostgreSQL DBA / Azure Data Platform Engineer to lead an Oracle → PostgreSQL migration on Microsoft Azure using Azure Database Migration Service (DMS) and AKS.
The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on PostgreSQL administration experience along with Azure database migration, Kubernetes and cloud networking expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Provision and manage Azure Database for PostgreSQL Flexible Server.
- Configure zone-redundant High Availability (HA).
- Perform SKU/IOPS sizing, backups and maintenance configuration.
- Execute offline/big-bang Oracle → PostgreSQL migrations using Azure DMS.
- Perform row-count, LOB and sequence validation.
- Handle Oracle schema and data-type mapping.
- Configure AKS ConfigMaps, Secrets and Kustomize.
- Manage rolling redeployments and application connectivity.
- Configure Azure VNet integration, Private Endpoints and Private DNS.
- Integrate Azure Key Vault with AKS using CSI Secret Store/synced secrets.
- Create production cutover runbooks and rollback plans.
- Support troubleshooting, performance optimization and production migration activities.
Mandatory Skills
- 5+ years of database engineering experience
- Strong PostgreSQL Administration
- Azure Database for PostgreSQL Flexible Server
- Azure Database Migration Service (DMS)
- Hands-on Oracle → PostgreSQL migration
- Big-bang/offline migration experience
- Oracle schema/type mapping
- AKS – ConfigMaps, Secrets, Kustomize
- Azure VNet, Private Endpoints, Private DNS
- Azure Key Vault + AKS
- Strong backup, HA and performance knowledge
Preferred Skills
- Flyway / Liquibase
- Terraform / Bicep
- Production cutover planning
- Rollback strategy/runbook development
- Enterprise database migration experience
