Position Overview
Job Title: Team Leader – Background Verification (BGV)
Location: Bangalore
Reporting To: Operations Manager
Experience Required: 3+ Years (Background Verification industry, with client onboarding, retention and delivery experience)
Role Summary
We are looking for an experienced Team Leader to manage the end-to-end Background Verification (BGV) process. The role involves coordinating with external verification agencies, building and maintaining strong client relationships, and providing regular operational updates to the Operations Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end Background Verification (BGV) process, from case initiation to closure, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with defined SLAs.
- Liaise and coordinate with external verification agencies for conducting checks (education, employment, address, criminal, reference, etc.), ensuring quality and turnaround time standards are met.
- Build, strengthen, and manage client relationships, acting as a key point of contact for operational matters and ensuring high levels of client satisfaction.
- Manage client onboarding, including understanding requirements, setting up processes, and ensuring a smooth transition into BGV operations.
- Focus on client retention through consistent service delivery, proactive communication, and timely issue resolution.
- Ensure end-to-end client delivery is met as per agreed SLAs, quality standards, and timelines.
- Monitor case progress, identify bottlenecks/discrepancies, and take corrective action to ensure smooth operations.
- Ensure adherence to internal processes, quality standards, and compliance/regulatory requirements throughout the verification lifecycle.
- Track key operational metrics (TAT, accuracy, productivity, agency performance) and maintain trackers/MIS.
- Provide regular updates and reports to the Operations Manager on client status, agency performance, and overall operational health.
- Handle escalations from clients and ensure timely resolution, escalating to the Operations Manager where required.
- Support process improvements and standardization initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce turnaround times.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of the end-to-end BGV process and industry practices.
- Proven experience managing relationships with verification agencies/vendors.
- Strong client relationship management, onboarding and retention skills.
- Good communication and coordination skills with the ability to liaise with multiple stakeholders.
- Proficiency in MS Excel/Office and reporting tools.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and provide regular, structured updates to leadership.
Eligibility Criteria
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in a Background Verification (BGV) company.
- Demonstrated experience in client onboarding, client retention and client delivery.
- Graduate in any discipline (preferred).
