As a Principal DevOps Engineer on our Engineering Services team, you will design, deliver, and operate the CI/CD and automation infrastructure that underpins Gigamon’s embedded software products. You will lead the evolution of our continuous integration framework, partnering closely with cross-functional engineering teams to gather requirements and translate them into scalable, robust solutions. In this senior role, you will act as a key technical authority for critical engineering tools and workflows, ensuring reliability, performance, and adherence to best practices. You will work autonomously to drive improvements in productivity, quality, and release velocity across multiple, overlapping product lines.
Design, develop, and maintain CI pipelines using Jenkins, Gerrit, and GitLab for build and test automation of embedded software products.
Champion best practices for CI/CD, SDLC workflows, and quality gates across engineering teams.
Explore, evaluate, and implement new toolsets and optimizations to improve developer productivity and quality control.
Serve as the primary point of contact and subject-matter expert for key engineering tools, including Gerrit, GitLab, Coverity, JIRA, TestRail, Black Duck, and Artifactory.
Administer Linux systems and applications, including patching, upgrading, and modifying configurations to meet evolving business and security requirements.
Provide frontline support for CI-related issues, triaging and resolving problems with the CI environment and production build infrastructure.
Manage the release and distribution of build artifacts to customer download portals, following strict change control processes and security best practices.
Maintain clear, up-to-date documentation for CI/CD pipelines, tools, and infrastructure, and actively share knowledge and best practices across the team.
Collaborate with U.S.-based operations, including occasional weekend work and adjusted work hours as needed to support global teams.
(Nice to have) Administer and scale Jenkins environments, including patching and performance tuning.
(Nice to have) Contribute to code signing workflows and PKI infrastructure to support secure delivery.
(Nice to have) Partner with QA and test teams to integrate test automation and execution into CI/CD pipelines.
Earned a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science (or related field) and have 13+ years of hands-on experience with CI/CD systems and applications, including Linux administration.
Built and maintained complex Jenkins pipelines, with deep expertise in scripted pipelines and pipeline-as-code concepts.
Gained 10+ years of scripting experience in languages such as Python, Perl, or Groovy, and applied this expertise to automation, tooling, and infrastructure.
Developed expert-level proficiency with Git/GitLab and source control best practices, including branching strategies, code review workflows, and change management policies.
Implemented and supported continuous integration and software frameworks for pre- and post-commit gates in multi-tier application environments.
Administered and integrated tools such as JIRA, Coverity, Artifactory, Black Duck, and TestRail within a CI/CD ecosystem.
Supported rapid, overlapping product release cycles, ensuring reliable, repeatable builds and releases in a high-velocity engineering environment.
Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document systems and processes clearly and collaborate effectively with diverse technical teams.
